Diet and exercise and keeping your weight in line. Stop drinking pop, energy drinks and sports drinks. Those things are poison. Sports drinksy may be great for what they are designed for, but the other stuff is pure poison. Sometimes people have intermitant bp, not constant, and watching you weight, execising and eating healthy is all it takes. That is how my son is doing it. Medication is through prescription.

Yeah I need to back off the energy drinks, its a problem, I don't drink booze often, nor soday. Eating habits could be better tho...

Viagra and the like are vasodilators. They will cause a significant DROP in blood pressure (along with a rise in some other areas as a result...)

There is no secret trick to this. Diet and exercise. If it can brought down naturally, that will do it. Sometimes it simply can't and you would then have to use medication, which is all prescription only.

1000 mg fish oil capsules help too. My doctor has me taking four a day along with my blood pressure medicine. The medicine alone wasn't quite enough to bring the blood pressure down to where he wanted it.

do you smoke? there are many things you can do, avoid stress, eat better foods, take a blood pressure pill, lay off the salt, i should know i have a high bp
What does "avoid stress" mean? Do people put themselves in stressful positions? My mother's mom (my maternal grandma) died at 51 due to high blood pressure. My mom has had high blood pressure since her early 30's (and doesn't nor hasn't ever smoked). I was diagnosed with high blood pressure at 32 years of age. I am now 34, and I used to smoke. My blood pressure then was on the low side -- like 110/90. My last reading at the dr.'s two weeks ago was 160/120; and then 10 mins. later 140/95. Eight months ago, my wife was 5 months pregnant and miscarried. A couple years ago, I was working two jobs, and my main source of income was cut, when I lost one of my job's. I have been going to night school for years, and one class is all that is preventing me from graduating with a Bachelor's Degree in Business Administration. Last, I suffer from sleep apnea, which means my quality of sleep is not normal. I have no problem falling asleep -- I just don't get the refreshed feeling when I wake. I need to have my tonsils out, but until my b.p. lowers I am too much of a risk. I am not over-weight, and I am trying to eat healthier. Yet, a forum, such as this one, leads people astry. Sometimes, there is nothing that can be done regardless. The situation I'm in proves that. Every other area of my health is fine -- no high cholesterol, obesity, or diabetes, etc.

People put themselves in stressful positions all the time, usually due to poor planning. For example, when running late to an event it is very easy to get stressed that you missed the light or the car in front of you is not driving at the speed you desire. Leaving earlier would allow you to avoid this stressful situation.

I second what Tom said, its not like the meant to put themselves in a stressful situation, but they way things went done handed stress to them from poor planning... I was raised a Navy Brat...if I'm not 5 to 10 minutes early somewhere I feel as if I am let...just how I was raised and it stresses me if I'm late...HP can come down from genes, and diet, exercise, and life style changes all help that, and if it is genetic you might need some drugs from your doc too, or if you can or are willing to I know weed will help some destress... I'm not a weed smoker, I was but I have quit, now if I was to become sick and needed weed and got a doc to say I need it then I would be all for it...Weed IMO is safer than drinking if you know where your weed is coming from...
