New technology makes our plastic built cars better in crash tests then they have ever been. Air bags weren't even required till when, the 90's?
Seatbelts save lives, end of story. It should be a law to have to wear seat belts. You are driving on a PUBLIC road which is a privledge, not a right by any means. If I rear end you and you were NOT wearing your seatbelt, and were seriously injured because you were not, you would sue me for everything I am worth for your medical bills; yet if you had a seat belt the injuries would be less.

i was seriously trying to find that video! lol. i always where mine, just because i like to live. i had a really good friend die in a car wreck, they told me that if he had been wearing his seat belt, he would still be living today. i put mine on all the time, dont even notice it now. when i got pulled over the past 7 times, ive always had my seat belt on and the cops have literally let me off with verbal warnings and two written warnings just because i had the belt on. 3 of them told me "well, since your wearing a seat belt, and we dont see to many teenage drivers doing that now days, go on about your business." not even joking. yes, i have been pulled over 7 times, and each one was a warning. lol

I've got pics to prove it if ya wanta see the results of the 2 headon type accidents I've been in, and it was in classic cars that were made of REAL STEEL, not the pop can sh*t that China sells us today.
ONLY time I have it on, is when I'm gettin pulled over by johnny law for whatever reason, if you get a seatbelt ticket, IMO, your an idiot.
Since they made the law, why would you stop before you put the stupid belt on????
Could do numerous polls for illegal motor vehicle laws (speedin, rollin stop, lifts beyond legal limits, etc), but to what avail?
Same as anythin else, "To each his own" IMO!

you sir, are an idiot. sure they dont make cars like they used to, motor wise, but the old cars were terrible in crashes. as explained by video above. hell, my dads 1970 dodge challenger was a death trap, even with a full roll cage, 5 point harness and a parachute, and that thing was a fucking tank. car protection has moved WAY forward in atleast the past 10 years. its amazing what a seat belt can do, and what the newer cars can do to save lives.

Re: Do you wear your seatbelt?
55mph & 74 Mustang II: 1976 = Broken nose/by myself
65mph & 73 Nova SS: 1977 = NO INJURIES/5 people in car
The OP was lookin to see how many wore a seatbelt, don't think he was lookin for people to get into a pissin contest. So IMO, if ya wanta comment why or why not you wear one, do so without throwin daggers at somebody that doesn't agree with ya!
I may be an "idiot" in your eyes, but I referenced to my experiences. You believe what you want. The government tells you what they want you to hear. You NEVER hear the stats on people who may of lived if they "wouldn't of had them on", cause they don't want you to know the TRUE %.
So as I said, "TO EACH HIS OWN"!
PS: The video was cute (movie tricks), a reinforced late model Malibu into a weakened 59 Impala....just like what you see on the TV. Dukes of Hazard, Smokey & the Bandit, Hooper, Fast & Furious, just to reference to a few.

Re: Do you wear your seatbelt?
I ALWAYS wear mine for a few reasons. First it was hammered into my head by my mother and now its just as much habit as shakin it after I piss. Second while the true percentages of people being saved by seat belts rather than killed by them is not known, I think any rational person would say that it saves lives WAY more than it takes them away. Third, its the law on the road. Just like turn signals, speed limits(which in Ohio are bullshit), it's the law you must obey in order to enjoy the right to drive. Anyone who rides in my vehicle will wear them or not ride because I don't want to have to clean your face off my windshield because I had to lock up the brakes because of deer. Just my opinion, everyone's got em.
BTW I am a smoker and yeah it is bad for you but what isn't nowadays?
Great thread it gets people talking and thinking.
