I was thinking of something like this. I will be towing the jet ski and I would like a good view of it.

any ideas on a good frame design would be great.

I love making frames but i cant photoshop for shit SO heres how i would do it for added security and etc hopefully it makes sense

okay so u have 4 tie downs so those will be the legs and to secure them ud strap it to the tiedowns by the legs

i WOULD NOT put it on top of he cab literally but thats just me so i would do kinda like a bed set up if u can picture that

a 6 foot long board on both sides sitting ON the rails just for stability hammered into 4 3by 4s all corners and then 2 by 4s going across

----------

ur idea is good but consider that ur going forward and that the front will not be stable because the triangle is in front i would also strap it down by the legs going across

forgot to add I have a tool box in my bed, so the front of the bed cannot be used for this. No welder either, so the frame would have to be wood, and no, I wouldn't rest it right on the cab, I would put some sort of padding in there. I think the "V" of the boat would help gas mileage being in front.

yeah grandpa has alwayys put his on a rack onthe roof he has a set up that loads it up for him but the gas mileage does not change that whichis awesome

okay yeah tool changes things a little bit

----------

is there a way to strap things to the toolbox?

----------

i dont know how long ur trailer is compared to how long the boat is but u can boat in the truck with it right side up and load the boat w ur camping stuff...should still be able too see and everything

----------

nvm....14 feet is really long lol thats as long as my boat is.....i dont think id even mount it on wood at the top but it could be cheap metal and light but mine sure isnt light

I am the right person to ask, do yourself a favor and reinforce your ropes, Even that may still give your problems, with all the gear and pulling on a boat not quite designed for towing, may cause some stress at the joints which will cause the boat to malefaction.

At 2-3 miles per hour, just let one of the guys put a rope around his waist or better yet let one of them hold onto the harness and that way the boat can be safely pulled.

I bought an aluminum boat today and will be starting another thread to help with the hauling frame construction.

Good idea, but I have a tool box in the bed. I am exploring that option though, thanks.

----------

I found one that fits an S10 6 foot bed. Do you guys think it will match up to the Ranger bed?
