how often do emt/ems face death? im just wondering, ive seen two people dead from an accident before and it definitely was thought provoking but i remeber this the most:

my dad and i were drivbing home from a fishing trip going sorta slow cuz the road was hella twisty, i was around 15 i guess so anyway this guy on a motorcycle passes us (legally) i wave at him and he waves back....he was gone

15 mins down the road, traffic has slowed down to a stop.....someone ripped out of a driveway and hit him, he lay there dead and the car who hit him left (found him later but it was very hard since the guy whho sold him the car didnt take info)

it was just so fucked up and really tauught me that it can happen at anytime

I know I will get blasted for this but saluting people for doing jobs they are WELL compensated for doesn't cut it in my book.
Our non commissioned military personel are making below the average national wage and are in harms way......they deserve it.
Roofers and linemen have much more dangerous jobs than EMTs and there was never a day or week honoring them.

really emts get paid so well huh? then why is that most but not all but the majority of ems professional that workk for paid services have to go and get 2 or more jobs? it's supposedly a well known fact that ems professionals are paid lots of cash... but in reality we barely make more than an e-3 in the military.... and about being in harms way yes the military pesonnel are in harms way and if you think being a ems professional is so safe why in the hell dont you come and give it a try... go work an accident scene on a major interstate when cars are whizzing by you at 70-80 mph while the drivers are rubber necking to see what the hell is going on....
