Our non commissioned military personel are making below the average national wage and are in harms way......they deserve it.
Roofers and linemen have much more dangerous jobs than EMTs and there was never a day or week honoring them.
Actually smart guy, most EMT's and firefighters in the USA are volunteer. Their compensation package consists of... nothing other than gratitude. You're welcome.

And FYI, the rather small percentage of career EMT's and firefighters are paid quite low and have to work excessive amounts of OT or a second job to compensate for it.

If the electrical power industry wants a week, they're more than welcome to make one. Nobody is stopping them. Pretty sure there are lots of already existing ways that our military service members are recognized.

the main reason why the national average payfor emt's is spo high is because there are so many private services in the country that can pay more than county services... if you take private services out of the equation the national average for emt pay would drop by atleast half... private services mostly dont offer benefits.... county services you get killer benefits... volunteer services either get a thank you or a good feeling ehwn they find out that the person that they hauled to the hospital is doing good... even though they thought they werent gonna make it....

15 mins down the road, traffic has slowed down to a stop.....someone ripped out of a driveway and hit him, he lay there dead and the car who hit him left (found him later but it was very hard since the guy whho sold him the car didnt take info)

it was just so fucked up and really tauught me that it can happen at anytime
as far as faceing death in the ems/emt profession we face death on every call that we go on... reguardless if we are running lights or not.... when we run lights the percentage almost doubles.... we are trained as highly as we an be to get there and back as safely as possible... but it's the idiots on the road that screw it all up...

it's really not the ones like your describing... the ones that really get on our nerves are the ones that act like they cant miss their turn and stay infront of us for a mile or so without moving... and the ones that see you and then slam their brakes on in front of you... had this happen once.... didnt hit them but i dont think you could have fit a sheet of paper between the bumpers when i finally stopped...

It's not something we all love talking about so don't expect a huge outpouring of details.

There is no "how often do we face death". The answer to that is "it depends". The answer to that is as infrequently as possible so long as we can help it. Shit happens when it happens and we can't predict or quantify it. It just happens.

I'll tell you that no matter how many times it happens, there is no getting used to or forgetting about kids dying on your watch. Regardless if there is anything you could do about it or not.

I have a lot of respect of EMT/EMS or whatever you want to call them, and they as our military are under paid, but I also agree that no one really thanks or says anything to EMT/EMS as much as we do our military, they have some sort of remembrance in just about every month... Hears to the EMS/EMTs thanks for all you do...I am thanking all of them but one...he deserves no thanks and its my ex-brother in law...I can not and will not every thank him for what he does...long sorry but I had to put it in there for my own sake...again EMT/EMSs thanks for all you do...I know that you saved my sons life when he was a week old, and I will never be able to thank them enough!
