It just wasn't funny. The joke was a clunker. it was stupid and immature.

I bet though that something similar to your so called joke actually happened. I should check that website someone posted showing all the clunkers. I think wannabe
posted it.

My sister traded in a 16 year old caravan, got $3,000 off from a GM card points(they stopped doing this) she got a new pontiac vibe(toyota matrix) for $8,000

I guess the real morons are the peeps that didn't do because they could figure out how to do the c4c. I talked to a couple of these peep I walked away shaking mt head

If that truck I have had a v6 it would be in the crusher right now

Sounds to me that you're pissed off that you didn't qualify for the program... Point of the matter is that YES, if the program was used wisely(from the consumers point of view), YES I would too have participated if we still had our old minivan. Minivan was worth MAYBE $500, but I would be getting $4500 for it. BUT..the entire program was a joke. Have you ran the numbers? All the 'Cash for Clunkers' program did was stimulate early vehicle purchases that were going to happen anyway. Just like everything that's government subsidized, it certainly doesn't pencil out.

Quote:
Did Anyone Run the Numbers?

I guess I must be on the wrong page…

A vehicle at 15 mpg and 12,000 miles per year uses 800 gallons a year of gasoline.

A vehicle at 25 mpg and 12,000 miles per year uses 480 gallons a year.

So, getting rid of each average clunker will reduce US gasoline consumption by 320 gallons per year.

They claim 700,000 vehicles – so that's 224 million gallons / year.

That equates to a bit over 5 million barrels of oil.

5 million barrels of oil is about of one day's US consumption.

And, 5 million barrels of oil costs about $350 million dollars at $75/bbl.

So, we all contributed to spending $3 billion to save $350 million.

How good a deal was that ???

They'll probably do a great job with health care though!! Just watch!!!!!!!!
There were idiots who 'clunkerd' REALLY rare cars and expensive cars.... GMC Typhoon/Syclone, Buick GNX, hell someone traded in a Roush Stage 3 f150....brand new truck pretty much. There's a blog entry at Jalopnik that showed off the rarist and most disgusting trade-in's for the c4c. Those people are the stupid ones...they didn't know what they had and the dealer that took the vehicles, were dumb enough to not buy it straight off their hands offering more than the $4500 the Govn't was offering, bypassing the c4c bullshit, making the dealer far more money and the customer far more money. Jalopnik also as a complete list of the vehicles traded in on another entry.

Me personally, I would have much rather found a XLT if I were to participate in the CARS program. After owning a brand new 01 XL a few years back, no way in hell I'd deal with a base model vehicle again if I purchased brand new. Then again, I wouldn't be getting myself a Ranger again either...More like a Focus or Fusion.

Wannabe. I am a straight shooter. If I was pissed about the c4c (I agree the program was stupid) I would say so. I called you out when that guy. Posted a question about wheel bearings and u called him an Idiot. This website says for beginnings. You are suppose to help the people that are trying to learn. I have read some of your other posts and can tell you are a good dude that knows a lot about these trucks

IMHO. Andy s "joke" was stupid. He had a chance to end it and he didn't

Maybe we should get back to the business of trying to help each other

Excuse me... Where did I call someone an idiot and where did you call me out? Do you have another user name that you use here? Because I just went through all your posts and you not once posted in any wheel bearing thread. Site your claims please. I welcome you to my profile and look through all my posts here and take note: i've done nothing but help people here and on all the other RBV webistes. I'm pretty sure you only know me for FRF, but take into account my membership of RBV sites since '02 where I once was a beginner. I only want to help people learn the way people helped me when I was learning.

btw...is this the thread you are referring to? http://www.fordrangerforum.com/gener...l-bearing.html

Weird how I'm new to this forum and vehicle mechanics and I've never been called an idiot and I've asked countless questions.
Maybe some people are idiots?
Maybe I'm on to somthing here...

i dont agree with the science behind cash for clunkers or the overall effect on the economy, but it helps out the individual. If the average individual saves 320 gallons/year, at current costs, which will probably rise soon, they would save $800 which to the average family is certainly a help when paying bills. So you could say the program failed as a whole, but it did and still is helping individuals with day to day lives.

Answer 1 - if you took your brake rotor off and cleaned the bearing but didn't put any grease back in you are an idiot, also fill the inside of the rotor with grease

Answer 2 - yes

Answer 3 - yes, one large one on the inside and a smaller on the outside
As you all can see above in exhibit B and click the link for exhibit A, you will find that I have never posted in that thread, and the posters who repied have nothing near what my screen name is. Sorry, but you are WRONG.
