Agree with MDBlitz . It gets to be that there are thousands of reasons why oil does what it doe s, and the bad part is almost everyone is correct . We are getting squeezed . Unfortunately the normal guy can't do a darned thing about it . Too much money around to be made in that business , nobody wants to change it as its a death sentence for politicians .

Nope, I'm not hysterical. Just curious as to why. Did you guys see that "60 minutes" episode about BP this past week. It was very interesting to say the least.

I know that the Republicans control congress now, breathe easy guys I aint no idiot now. This aint the first time Obama has tried this shit before either. I think that is a front.

Send me some. I filled up today for 3.88...

Also Oil has to do with Speculation from Futures Traders... If they see the world demand is gonna tank in the future guess what the price plummets. If they thought Everyone in the world stopped driving then the price of oil would drop cheaper than it was in the mid 90s. If they thought everyone in the World was gonna buy a Tank and pour gas on the ground then Oil would go through the roof.

Its not anything that Illegal that cause this, It was because in the year 2000 Bill Clinton signed into law a Bill without looking at the Riders that came along with it. One rider being the Commodity Futures Modernization Act of 2000 which added to the Commodity Exchange Act, and it pretty much opened a loophole allowed for the creation, for U.S. exchanges, of a new kind of derivative security, the single-stock future, which had been prohibited since 1982 under the Shad-Johnson Accord....

______________

Also I found out how to calculate approximately how much gas would be at the pump

Take the Current Oil Price, Divide by 42, Divide by 42 Again, Multiply by 3. That the actual Price of Gas. Then Comes the Taxes.

add .18 for Federal Tax then go to THIS SITE for the Local Taxes. virginia is 17.5 cents so I round up to .18

Add those all up and you get about what the price at the pump would be.

For Example

97.18 per barrel / 42 = 2.31380952

2.31380952 / 2 = 1.15690476

1.15690476 x 3 = 3.47071429

Actual Price of Gas itself is 3.47 then Fed Tax Time.

3.47 + .18 = 3.65

Then My VA state Tax of 17.5 Rounded to 18

3.65 + .18 = 3.83/gal

And today I filled up at the Hess Station down the road and the Actual Price was 3.88/gal

EPA states Approx. 68% of cost goes to Crude. 13% goes to Refining. 7% Distribution/Marketing. and 12% for Taxes. (Those Numbers Very)

They've been making electric conversion kits since the energy crisis of the early 70's. Have you noticed that we've been seeing alot of hybrid and electric vehicle commercials as of late? To answer your question it depends on what type of batteries are used and how far you drive. Usually if cost effective, about 40 to 50 miles max depending on what you use and what model of hybrid you have. Also after reading an article in "Street Rodder" magazine, most electric cars use AC powered electric motors. This guy actually uses Series Wound DC electric motors. Unlike a diesel engine which can "run out of torque", the series wound DC electric motors produce torque at 0 rpms which is killer. Google electric vehicle conversion kits. And for those wondering about home made diesel cars here's a website that you might be interested in:

http://www.rqriley.com/cent.html

They did that with a Kubota Diesel engine. I would use an american made diesel instead. That's just about the only engine that is 100% made in the U.S.A.

The thing is...wlll they make a truck with 4x4 capable of electricity?

Comon guys...think outside the box. It's all cars. Where are the trucks and every other transportation that runs of gas or diesel?

Also, what if you have no area to charge at when you run out of charge?

Will they make charge stations like gas stations but will charge a car up within seconds like we do with gas/diesel?

Damn!! yall's gas prices suck!
We havn't broke $4.00 a gal. We are about $3.89 a gal right now.

---------------------------------------------------------------------
It would be cool if someone made a diesel/electric 4x4 truck. Similar to today's locomotives. A small diesel to turn a generator and use that electricity to power the drive motors. Then you could dynamic bake and put power back into a small bank of batteries..... hmmm i need a cheap truck, lots of $$ and time and I could probably make something work..

My issue with electric vehicles is that you have to plug them in, which brings up your energy bill. Most home energy is produced by burning coal which does not eliminate the issue IMHO.

Filled my work truck yesterday, and boy am I glad I didn't have to pay for it.
