These hybrids might just start takeing big shits 10 yrs down the road! no thanks, I'll keep all 3 of our trucks that are bought and paid for, you go ahead and dump 300/month for a useless car. Now if your going to buy a $40k car to begin with, then there really is no argument, this is in comparison to someone who has a car/truck paid off or close to paying off. But this push that is out there to "trade" in your car to buy a hybrid dont make no sense to me.
I agree with you on this.

I do know someone who owns a Prius. He drives all over the Upper Peninsula and Northern Wisconsin for his business. He puts about 40,000 miles on the car a year.

For a job like that it is understand able to have the most efficient car possible, but for driving back and forth to work everyday, the savings do not out weigh the costs.

Why not just buy a Yaris/Fit/Fiesta/Elantra for $25K and still achieve like 40 MPG

i second this also. when people ask me how i afford to drive my trucks (ranger and F-150) when gas is this high i simply tell them "its payed for" if i had a $300 a month payment AND had to keep gas in it hell yes i would consider trading for a more efficient vehicle but since all my vehicles are payed for i can still afford to drive them.

It is not my car and not my decision to make. He chose a Prius for what ever reason he did.
