Torque is definately needed, so a 4 cylinder CAT or Cummins diesel would be my first choice. Stand by I'll be up loading a video from my WWII aircraft collection featuring the P47 Thunderbolt. It's in color and you get to see and hear it in action.

Ford originally used steam when they first came out with a T-Bucket in 1908 then it went to 100% ethanol/alcohol when gasoline first came out the t-bucket was already gone.

I agree with most of what's been said.

The most important thing to me is whoever keeps designing the stupid buck tooth grilles and adding more plastic to vehicles would have to eat every single buck tooth grille in the warehouse, and then I would fire them for having absolutely no taste in design. I DO NOT want my grille to be bigger than my windshield. Trucks should not be designed to match the style of dem boys in da hood, because dem boyz in da hood can't afford a new vehicle anyway. Design vehicles with the actual regular consumer in mind.

I want a truck where I can strip everything within federal reason off of it. But of course, catalytic converter deletion is not in reason, nor is computer deletion, or wasted space deletion, etc.

The only way to avoid inspections here in VA is to get an antique vehicle. It's the black tag with white letters/numbers. The other antique tag is yellow with blue numbers/letters and it requires an inspection sticker. Plus you never have to renew those tags as long as you own the vehicle.

That's why I'm into antique vehicles now. No inspection sticker and the chances of you getting pulled over in an antique are extremely unlikely. I've only seen one antique pulled over here in VA in 10 years, and the only reason he got pulled over was so the cop can ask him about the truck he had and where he could get one restored. Plus they don't even bother to check for emissions which is the way it should be.
