Default Opinion on a 2nd Vehicle

I am considering purchasing this Lexus RX 300 from the same dealer i got my ranger from. This would be a second vehicle to my ranger as my 2000 explorer was, but i need something good on gas and I just sold my Explorer today. I usually would not even consider a Jap SUV, but i hear good things about longevity with this RX. Any comments/thoughts are appreciated, don't be afraid to be honest either. Thanks in advance.

Do you need a SUV for a DD? You have your truck for hauling stuff, so I don't see the point in a SUV as a DD. I wouldn't buy that Lexus though, 157k on the clock for $7000, no thanks.

I feel safer on the road in an SUV more than i do in a car and i just like the stance of an SUV better if that makes sense. As for the miles, i heard they go for like 300,000 if you take care of them but i do also see what you are saying as far as the price tag on it. I appreciate the advice and i'm really gonna think it over before i make a decision

Don't. They have horrendous transmission problems.

It's a Yota, it'll last you a long time. Just wanting an SUV because it gives you a commanding road presence in my book, is just plain stupid. You want something for mileage get a car, get a big car. Ford Taurus SHO? How about a Crown Vic?

Thank you, i just did a search on trans problems for them and i guess that is an issue, that probably made my decision right there, and yeah i know it sounds crazy, but i just never see myself in a car.
