The fair tax is a 23% tax on all new goods and services, but then you get your ENTIRE paycheck. You would actually have MORE income, and like you said, EVERYONE pays the same percent. But if you make 100K, you obviously pay more, b/c you make more.

Amen, brother.

I agree. You work hard, you are rewarded for your hard work. I don't believe in taxing people who make more money, a higher percentage of tax, while freeloaders aren't taxed at all. Its just not right....The Preamble says, "PROMOTE the general welfare". No PROVIDE for the general welfare....People forget that. Our government is developing a welfare, nanny state. Abe Lincoln once said, "Our nation shall never fall to a foreign power. If she is to die, it will be by suicide." Well, our nation due to the current and many past administrations has been suicidal for a long time...It needs to END
I could probably lose myself in that book very easily. I've worked hard all of my life. Even as a kid my parents said if you want it you must earn it. Now that I'm at the point where I can't work, I'd like to collect what I have been putting in that Hell Hole known as Washington D.C. I don't call them Politicians. I call them POLICHICKENS. They run around like a chicken with its head cut off so why not. I started paying taxes at the age of 13, when I lied about my age to get a workers permit. My first job, only paid $4.15 per hour. It didn't go to $4.25 for another 2 years. And at one point most of us saw that for many years. The minimun wage didn't go to $7.25 an hour till the last couple of years I worked. It's what I believe in. Dale Earnhardt SR. proved to me a long time ago that hard work does pay off. He started from virtually nothing. When he first started racing in Nascar being able to buy soap and tooth paste was a luxury to him. And when he died and you look back at what he had built for himself over the years prooves it. That why he was, and is a hero to so many people. He was the face of the american dream. That's what I'd like to see. America back to work prospering. No more of our military men and women dying in wars that turn out to be petty and immature bullshit, like IRAQ FOR EXAMPLE. My hat's off to anyone that served our country and for those whom paid the ultimate price for our freedom. SEMPER FI. You'll never be forgotton here in my home or by me either.

I was taught that too. I think we come from a different generation though. I have always said that I should have been more 30 years earlier. b/c I am VERY conservative for my age, more so than some of the people the same age.

Most likely we did. Most people today in their early 20's call me an old man. Some call me a dirty old man. I always say, I'll be a clean old man when I'm a dead old man. (Grady Wilson off Sanford & Son said that to Lamont).

How would we do that? Forced sterilization? Forced birth control? One baby policy? Forced abortions?

You think there is out rage with conservative people about sex education in schools, what do you think they will do about limiting population?

That is one of the dumbest things I have read, I am sorry to say. Once you start limiting population, you become a police state because you have to enforce your population controls.

What is your idea? Limit the number of children people can have? The current average size of a family in the USA is 3.14, that is 2 parents and one child or one parent and 2 children in a family. Do we say only one child? two children?

Where does that leave me? I have 4. Do I give 2 away? I have a couple friends who are married but without kids, maybe they would take 1 or 2 of mine, just to keep the population numbers down.

I seriously doubt that is gonna happen. The ones who are fucking it up for us is these God Damn illegals having 5 kids and getting food stamps and medicade and don't have to work but the ones who do work don't have to pay in taxes.

All that will do is raise the price of goods and services. Making it even harder for people who are at the bottom of the pay scales to get by.

The impact on service industries would be harder. Which services will be taxed? Which will be not? Or is every service business going to be taxed 23% equally? My wife's physical therapy business is paid mostly through insurance. I do not see the insurance companies paying the 23% tax on her services. So that means that the 23% will be coming out of the money that the insurance pays us, which in many cases is a lot less then what we bill.

Think about the impact on other services like that. The dentist, Dr's offices, etc. Where do you think they will get the 23% from? Not insurance, that is for sure. It will come from YOU! So instead of the co-pay you owe the dr. You will be getting a bill for 23% of the cost of the visit.

Have you ever looked at what some of the tests cost? What some of the dentist procedures cost? Do you know how much it costs to have a baby in the hospital? All of these you will be paying 23% on. Going with the numbers I found on webMD. It is between $9,000 to $15,000 to have a baby. Depending on if it is the natural way or Caesarean. Do you have $2,500 to $3,500 laying around to pay your tax bill when it comes due?

I think that is a state problem. If they are illegal, they should not be getting state aid. Plain and simple.

When you have a country that has a stable government and has rights for it's citizens, you will have people wanting to enter it. If they can not legally, they will illegally. That is the way of the world.

Do you think that back in the 1800s when the US was getting a huge influx of European emigrants, if they US emigration officials would have said "you can not enter". Do you think that they would have turned around and sailed back to Europe? Or would they have entered the country illegally? Remember many of these emigrants would be our own family members. I know they would be mine.

I am not saying illegal emigration is right, but I am just give my views on why it happens.

So, I'm having this problem with my truck.... I'm sorry, I thought this was America. If you don't like it you can get out!

BTW! Can't we all just get along, and perhaps talk about some trucks instead of dropping the EFF bomb?

It is the states that are giving out the support, not the federal government. Food stamps and Medicaid are state functions. Each state has a different set of rules on who receives the services.

I agree it needs to stop, but the only way to make it stop is to have your state legislators change the rules on who can receive the aid. If you are so against it. It is time to stand up and take to your fellow residents and get some action from your legislator. They work for you, they HAVE to meet with you and listen to your issues. But you need to have your facts straight and it cannot be just some random things you think or heard from so and so on the street. Start in your local town, get a petition going, talk to people. Get a letter writing campaign going and send letters to the state officials. There are many things you can do to effect change.

I will get off my soap box now.

If there's no deal tonight, I'm not working tomorrow. I work for the gov't in law enforcement, so those that say LE and essential services aren't effected, my department of 22 people just told 8 people "Sorry, don't come to work tomorrow".

Damn you mean it's gotton worse than what's being reported? That's bad when they go to cutting LE. And I just found out that the U.S. Military is closing some recruiting offices. The people manning those offices that are getting closed are getting transfered as we speak. I haven't seen anything like this since the early 80's when I was a kid.
