Default My home improvement project- Operation nursery complete! (No 56K)

Well as some of you may know, my wife wife is currently pregnant with our first child thats due at the end of May so the last couple months i have been slowly re-doing the spare bedroom into a nursery. My house was built in 1976 so it has a few years of paint, nail holes and shoddy renovating work done to it. This is the first room ive tackled since buying the house in 2007 but its not the last, I eventually want to re-do the whole house but that will be a slow process. I fixed the walls, painted, new trim, fixed and repainted doors, new door handles, new vents, replaced painted over outlets and light switches ect. Here's some pics of the baby's room transformation, I'm pretty proud of it. (btw, were having a girl, my wife picked the colors. lol)

what the room looked like before..

started patching all the nail/ screw holes and sanding the bumps and crap on the walls..

Time for the first paint color..

second color. more purple....

getting the trim and chair rail up..

new curtain thingy's and other random's.

all finished and filled with stuff (baby shower was yesterday)

So the room is ready for the baby but im sure not ready! lol

Looks great man! Congrats on the kid. When you fix up the house do you plan on changing out the carpet too?

Wow that looks really good. I really like the two tone colors on the walls with the trim dividing them. have you picked a name yet?

thanks Scott. although i agree im not a fan of the color carpet, its still in great shape and i ran out of money so it will stay for now. a laminate would look great but its not exactly baby friendly. my goal is to eventually re-do teh rest of the room in the house and i will do carpet at that point .

Keep the green carpet in there till she is about 2 or 3.

It isn't worth putting money into new flooring in a baby's room just yet. She will be getting sick and puking all over the floor, crib, walls. Plus there is always the chance she will learn that she has a sandbox in her diaper. Your floor will be full of stains before you know it.

Your room looks great!! I love the 2-tone walls. The bedding reminds me of the set we got for my youngest daughter, but in pink and red.
