sleep apnea is nothing to mess around with... i know they told us in emt class that if the o2 sat drops below 85 that most ppl will get intubated as a precautionary step... i've seen o2 sat readings in the low 70's maybe even borderline 68-69. i have also been told that anything below 65 and you start to risk brain damage... good thing you got this checked out and good luck with the surgery...

if any of you ever watched Pro wrestling back in the mid-late 90's, you might remember a team called "Public" Enemy" In 2006, "Johnny Grunge" died from a heart attack in his sleep, which the coroner said was most likely caused by undiagnosed sleep apnea. He was 39.

Update: My surgery could only be half performed. I ran into bleeding issues in the OR, so only my deviated septum was worked on. It hurts like crap and is very tender to the touch. Doctor didn't touch my tonsils or uvula (flap above the tonsils). He said the later may never need done since I was a lot worse nasally than he thought. In fact, a bone spur is still present on one side of my nose.

I had the procedure done Weds., and it is now almost Sun. at midnight, and I can't wait till my nose can drain. I haven't noticed any results yet due to the swelling.

Thanks for the prayers. Doctor is going to monitor and advise me later.

I have it also and was also put on oxygen at night. But I could never sleep with it went through 4 or 5 different masks. I sleep on my side and could never get one to stay on, so I finally just sent everything back.

^ so you just gave up? Please, keep trying to use the mask. if you cannot, tell your Doctor. Sleep apnea is nothing to just "give up" on.
I sleep on my side all the time with my full faced mask and it has only given me minimal problems.

Cpap machine takes the air you breath , increases the pressure above atmospheric , this allows the airways to stay open so you dont stop breathing .this should explain it better

deepSouth Ranger seems proud that he gave up on doing what his doctor told him. he seems to think that Sleep apnea is a joke.

Both of my parents have sleep apnea as do a few family friends and some of the guys I work with..... they all have machines to sleep with so we joke about going on camping trips and just bringing one big machine and lots of tubes... haha
