I don't always stand for it if I don't feel like it. I have recited 102503250 times, 1 more time isn't going to mean anything but when I do recite it, I leave out the under god part.

It may piss you off, but you should be proud that people are using those rights that you fight for.

You are not showing anyone respect by getting upset with them over not standing. They are expressing their rights and with wanting them to stand you are supressing their rights. It isn't respect, it is fear if you force them to stand.

when i was in boot camp in fort jackson south caronlina i remember a guy beside me was spanish up and the guy told everybody to stand up to do the pledge and national anthem and they guy beside me was sittin down and the D.I ripped him a new one and ol boy told the D.I iam sorry sir i wasnt born in this country and i havent felt that i am givin the respect to this great country till i fight for this country and i am done with the years in this miltary fightin for the freedom that this great country gives to anybody sir. and nobody even the D.I didnt even know what to say to that.

It is important that people be given the choice to pledge without being forced to use religious concepts in it. I always stand and put my hand/hat over my heart, but I have not said under God since I was a child. Saying it makes me uncomfortable because I do not believe in God. I think that part should be open to whatever religious entity you do or do not believe in.

First time i ever got in trouble at school was for yelling at a kid who wouldnt stand for the pledge. i am unable to serve do to a shoulder injury from hs but have a friend in afganistan serving and one at pendelton but if i could serve i would i think if you want to be disrespectful then do it somewhere else but not there i hate ppl who are like "oh im not gonna say it"

Who's god are you saying is the god in "one nation under god"?

I am all for people who want to keep god in the Pledge, but I also support people who do not want it in.

We are a nation built on religious morals of our founding fathers, but we were also a nation given the ability to choose what religion we want, or non at all.

It is that pesky 1st amendment again. I'll put it on here incase you forgot it.

For my personal belief, this means that if a person wishes to not say "god" in the Pledge then it is their right to not say it.

I feel we can leave "god" in the Pledge and on our money, as long as we do not start mandating which god we are saying it is. Leave "god" up to individual interpretation and we can all go to bed happy.

First of all George Washington believed in God and America was basically a Christian country. Yes, there was a couple of forefathers who didn't believe in a higher power.

But America was a Christian nation until some Communist Atheistic basterds consumed it with their liberal BS.

Yes, it's ok to have other religions here but not to destroy our Christian background either.

i didnt say the pledge for the last few yrs of HS and have always left out 'under god'. i am currently active duty US Navy and still feel the same way about our government - it is shit. however i do what i do because i love the US as a country and i love the people here. our government is failing miserably. and even though i am a government tool to do whatever they please, i feel as though i serve the people, not the government. anyway, i feel the people who dont say the pledge and are educated and have an actual opinion, like myself and the others on here who have made good points, should be allowed to do so without negative feedback. those who do it out of pure lazyness, or just to be a 'rebel', well fuck em'
