Default How many actually read the WHOLE thread?

I was just wondering how many people actually take the time to read an entire thread before commenting because I keep seeing "last comments" posted in various threads that clearly show the person who wrote them did NOT actually read the entire thread.

In most of these threads, by the time you get to the last few comments, the whole thing has gotten way off subject anyway because people start talking about other things and you're commenting on something that has nothing to do with the original thread or asking a question that's already been covered!

It's like walking up, overhearing the MIDDLE of a conversation, butting in, and looking stupid because you have no idea what you're talking about!

WHOA!! Ok, I have not had my coffee yet and it clearly shows, but seriously, if you want to learn and expect to have a "relevant" opinion to add to a thread...read the whole thing...please!

P.S. Don't worry, pouring the coffee now, and in a few moments it WILL be safe to approach me again. And NO, if you read them backwards the devil DOES NOT speak to you, sorry!

Annoying isn't it? Doesn't only happen in long threads either.

Moderation is usually a potent remedy.

We need to understand that the moderators have lives too and can't always be there to save the day in all threads. But it would help if instead of only reading the first and LAST comments and replying people would skim through the "off topic" comments and read the relevant ones...at least! I don't mind the off topic things that are said, sometimes they are very funny and entertaining, but even the threads that don't go off topic still lose something in meaning when you don't read the whole thing.

You see my low post #? (I had this even before offtopic posts were eliminated) I rarely post something in FRF that isnt tech related.

I almost always read the whole thread, unless it's an off topic thread, or has more than a few pages of posts. But if it's something technical, that i'm about to answer, then I definitely read the entire thread.

As far as going off topic, this is why I hang out in the Drivetrain section. Everybody hates transmissions and rear axles, so there is absolutely no off topic posting there whatsoever. There's no chance for me to go off topic.

I skipped over most of what was in this thread to reply. Reading is hard.

I actually do read most of the posts in certain threads.

I saw that people were still posting "in channel" even after kindy showed pics of her truck with the new window visors. I thought, what idiot can't read 2 pages of comments?
