The main thing is diet. Eat green which contains plenty of nutrition and vitamins. Stay away from processed foods like shit that is in bags pre-cooked. Watch the carbs as well ( beer can have a ton too lol). Eating healthier will give you much more energy than the garbage people eat today. As an R.N. , i would reccomend plenty of cardio, not a treadmill yet but maybe a fast walk or even jog on the machine with steps that move back and forth. You can lift but you should primarily stick to the diet and cardio. Once weight is coming off you can work on muscle density and lifting and what not. Good luck with the diet. just dont loose track if you dont see results immediately!

Eating clean is HUGE if you can try an avoid gluten, really hard to do but that would make a huge difference, but also if you can get on a rowing machine doing intervals would be great!

If you plan on doing alot of cardio I would invest in some bomb ass shoes! I got the Five Fingers and OMFG I love them. I have knee problems and a really bad messed up ankle that ALWAYS hurt when I ran. After warming up the ankle pain is gone and I dont feel anything in the knee area. Good luck to you though Ive also undertaken this little change.

I'm agreeing with all the guys that said crossfit, since that's probably your best bet, I've done it for the past 2 years with my trainer and honestly its gotten me in the best shape I've ever been in. Also eating 3 meals a day must be good and light snacks in between is ideal, especially since your trying to lose weight your body will learn to burn body fat.

Congratulation on making the biggest step in deciding to make a change. I wouldn't buy their food but the book is a good read and lots of good information on site as well. http://bodyforlife.com/

I havent read through anyone elses suggestions so if there are repeats, Im sorry.

First off, you need to do cardio. There is no such thing as target wieghtloss. So you can not do just core excercises to lose stomach fat. Run as much as you can handle for at least 3 times a week. The key is to keep a steady pace, get the heart rate up, and break a sweat. Youll lose most of your weight here.

To add some carlorie/ fat burn, you are gonna want to get some weights and/ or resistance bands. The key is not to lift as much as you can yet, you are trying to burn fat and calories, not build muscle (that will come as a result anyways, its just not the focus) Pick a lower weight and do more reps 10-15 reps and do 3 sets per excercise.

A good training routine would be supersetting. That is you have 2 excercises per muscle group. You go through and do 1 set per excercise with out a break in between, then you take a quick breather, and move to the next muscle group. You do the complete rotation 3 times. Do this 3 times a week to start. Soon you will be able to go with out any breaks, thats when you know to add weight or change up the excercises.

Example:

10-12 reps bench press
10-12 reps flys

-30s-1m30s break-
10-12 reps should press
10-12 reps pull ups

etc etc.. if you need more excercises, let me know and I can get you a list of things you can do with basic equipment.

Resistance bands are a great great tool. You can do high high repetitions so you get great tone and fat burn. They work the muscle through the entire range do to increasing resistance.. wieghts do not. I recommend them.

Next tip: High Intensity Interval Training.. you may not be ready for this, but after some time of basic cardio training, you can tackle it.

The idea is to run/ jump rope/ ride bike/ swim at a normal rate, but at random times 2-4 times a cardio session, do full exertion bursts for 30s-1m. That would be jog jog jog SPRINT jog jog jog SPRINT. Make these your fullest effort! HIIT has the capability of kicking your body into accellerated fat and calorie burning for a couple of days!!!

NEXT huge tip.. Push through anything! Throwing up is ok!!! Haha you always feel better after. If you push through, youll be able to go farther the next time. Its good to have someone to work with you to encourage you, its easy to say thats enough for me today..

Diet:
There are ALOT of miss conceptions here...

First off... WATERRRR!!!!!! DRINK WATTTTTER! Is that clear!!! Lots of it!! If you piss clear, thats good! If not you are dehydrated. Just drinking water alone youll lose weight and feel better. people these days dont drink nearly enough!!

SECOND off.. EAT! You cant starve yourself.. itll make it harder. Aim for foods that you want to eat that are high in protein and low in fat. Carbs arent a big issue because you are working out alot and need the energy.. just stay away from sugar carbs, etc.

Great foods are Chicken, pork and beans (realllly low in fat and HIGH protein), vegetables, etc. Just do some research.

Times to eat: EAT breakfast!!!! This will kickstart your metabolism giving you more energy for the day and better calorie burn and usage. Another morning tip: If you arent doing your full excercise in the morning, do something little like 10-15 push ups or whatever you can handle. This will wake you up, get the heart beating, and give you energy.

Another good tip is to eay several small meals through out the day instead of 3 large ones. This better fuels your body and is just healthier.

HUGE THING: Dont stress. Dont worry about a huge drastic diet change. Take it in strides. Allow yourself treats now and again.. you will be more successful and more likely to stick with it and adapt it into your everyday life.

Tips for going out to restuarants: They usually give huge caloric portions.. immediately ask for a box and put some of it away so you dont feel the need to eat it all in one sitting. Eat it for lunch the next day. Oh, and order a water.. youll save money too.. I think the mark up for sodas at resturants is in the 1000%s

You could also try getting a video system like P90X, theyre intense but they will guide you through. You dont have to keep up, and you can do the program many many times to get where you need to..

The biggest key to wieght loss, is not what you do so much, just that you do..

If you need anything else let me know.. hope this helps.
