I'm planning on getting a 4 wheeler or 3 wheeler, and putting the engine on my dune buggy. Preferably 200cc or bigger. But I don't want to spend over 600 so it'll probally be used. nice 4 wheeler though. =]

Nice wheeler, the hondas are reliable machines for sure but definitely underpowered. I do mud racing and ride a 500 polaris sportsman myself. If you were looking into putting big or bigger tires on it its possible with some minor modifications. Check out http://forum.highlifter.com/ the guys on there are very knowledgeable and can help with anything from a minor issue to configuring your 420 to run 32" tires.

Nice four wheeler. I just picked up a 1999 Polaris Sportsman 500 for $500. It's been sitting under a car-port for a year but other than that, it was a good deal. I went ahead and bought a starter and battery and she's already running like a champ. Has 236 hours on it which isn't bad for a 12 year old bike.

Yea I'm happy with this thing. It needs a really good cleaning but it runs great. I also got a Honda Sportrax 250 like 2 weeks ago for free. $400 later for some minor repairs and some new tires and the thing's like brand new haha

Quads here cost almost as much used as they are new, and the warranty on new ones is like a year at most, not much when you think about the little use you'll make of it, and probably everything could be subject to exclusions since you take them offroad (it's only an assumption, i haven't checked).

It's like, you know you're buying something that will break even if you're careful, the engine will fail, it's not a matter of how, but when.

For 6k, i could buy a clean fully equipped '99 TJ!

But.. even knowing all this.. i wish i could find a cheap quad in good condition

When i bought my Kawasaki in 05 i purchased the extended warrenty. iam glad i did because in 2009 my motor went and was completly covered 100%

6k for a honda will give you a quad you dont really ever have to worry about though. Something about hondas they just never die

just a word of advise, never ever buy a new brand new atv from a dealer, they screw you, 6k for a quad? thats crazy, you could go on craigslist and find one that has ben ridden a few times, for a few thousand less. idk why people but them brand new lol i give them this lecture every time. in this economy every penny counts really.

nice atv tho.

^^buying a used Atvs or dirtbikes is taking a real chance that the person before you didnt fuck up the machine and cleaned it up and put it for sale. I know that you can certainly tell when the selller is genuine and the machine is good. But the comfort of know that nothing is wrong is worth those extra pennys to me. I could clean my quad up real nice and people would never know that its on its 2nd motor, new set of cv joints and tie rods. There are people out there that will not disclose those things.

3 years ago i bought a 01 660 raptor off a 50 year old man, original tires at 90-95% for 5000 with a trailer, then i fucked it by rolling it, $200 for new bars, $1200 for new plastics and she looks new again
