Default New toy :D

It's not "new" new, but it's new to me. PSE Litespeed bow. Adjustable draw (set at 26 which is just under what my draw length is), sights, whisker biscuit, quiver, release and stabilizer. I've been looking for a bow for almost a year now and finally found one that was set up the way I wanted for the price I was willing to pay, so of course I jumped on it!

I'm going to go and have it restrung today and then go play with it at a buddies house. Now I've got another season of hunting! WHOOOOOOO!

The tag says it's set at 70 #'s but it feels way easier then that. And I'm not sure on the FPS, I'm guessing you mean feet per second? I'm pretty new to archery and have only shot a few times. I bought this bow of a friend of a friend and he said all he ever did was shoot it at our local archery shop, never hunted with it and I guess he wasn't much of a shot.

The tag is most likely just saying what the max poundage can be. Which is why it could feel like its pretty easy to pull back. might be set at 60lbs. But congrats on getting the bow, remember once you think youve shot enough arrows through your bow, shoot alot more. can never shoot and practice enough with archery. I try to shoot as much as i can year round

There is a max poundage of 80#'s and the tag is hand written saying 70#. I think however that it has been changed since the last setting because it feels even lighter then 60. I showed it to a buddy of mine today who pretty much only does archery hunting, and he even said it feels more like 40 or 50. I don't care much because it makes it easier on me, but it made me feel like a beast!

All the archery shops were closed today (totally forgot it was Sunday, lol) and the one I was told to go to is closed on Mondays, so the bow will be restrung on Tuesday (hopefully). Then I'll probably shoot all next weekend, lol.

I might skip this archery hunting season to get myself pretty well trained and then take the bow hunters safety course next year or this coming fall (they have one AFTER archery season). I made the mistake as a kid taking hunters safety and then hunting before I had even shot a gun before and made a lot of really lousy shots while we were hunting. This summer will be filled with shooting, shooting, and fishing, lol!

Anybody got a suggestion for arrows?

Yeah carbon arrows for sure. Go to a good archery shop so they can match the right arrow to your bow, it will make a huge difference having the right arrows. I switched to carbons this year and picked up 50 feet per second over the aluminums

So I've shot a few arrows through it and sighted it in. I'm loving every second of this new toy, lol. Got a question though since I'm still a nooby.

After playing with my sights for a while, I realized that my second pin from the top is not just a naked one, but the little colored thing inside seems to be cut or broken. I can still shoot at 30 yards (which is what I use it for) fine without it, but it would make it easier to see and am wondering how I can fix it. Here's a picture of the pin I am referring to.

On top of the sights is what appears to be a reel of some sort to keep the extra colored line in with a screw holding it down. Do I just unscrew it and then pull the pin into that little hole for the sight? Here's a picture of the top of it:

Last question: I noticed at the local range that they have a table with hooks on the bottom of them, and guys were hanging their bows on the hooks from their cams. Is it OK to store a bow like that, or is hanging it like that just something you should do temporarily? Just curious because I want to build a gun rack/cabinet to store my rifles in and was thinking of putting a hook in it for my bow.
