UTI VS Wyotech
I'm working on some college stuff in English class, and would like to tap you guy's (and gal's) brains. I'm looking at Wyotech or UTI for Diesel tech. What have you all heard about them, or any other tech school?
Thanks in advance

Re: UTI VS Wyotech
i went through Wyotech 7 years ago. and from what i understand, it's not like it used to be. when i went, it was an amazing education. if you are really serious about either one, have a rep come out to you and talk about the school, and schedule a tour of each school.

Re: UTI VS Wyotech
What about Ohio Technical College. I know a guy who went through their program. Great instructors and lots of learning opportunities.

There are a lot of good tech schools out there, not just the ones you advertising on T.V. I talked to a rep from UTI a couple years ago. It would have been about 30 grand just for schooling, not including room and board. And also when you leave school you will still have to buy your tools, because (UTI) they provided all of the tools in class.
I'm not trying to talk you out of going to either if you mind is decided. I just want you to look at your options. There are a lot of good Technical Colleges and Programs out there that cost a lot less then UTI and Wyotech. Those other programs might be something to look into.

Re: UTI VS Wyotech
Run away from Nashville Auto Diesel College. I have a buddy going there, and he has learned absolutely nothing there. Like has been said about Wyotech, the school used to be good, but has gotten progressively worse.
I thought about being a diesel mechanic before, but then you realize that those who say it's a big career lie, when everybody and their sister wants to be a diesel mechanic. There definitely is not a shortage of diesel mechanics.

Re: UTI VS Wyotech
I went to wyotech 2 years ago, for collision repair, and i did learn a lot! however looking back its all stuff i could have learned hands on in about the same time and getting paid instead of paying out the ass. with that being said i would suggest apply at shops first and then if nothing happens with those then look into going to one of them. the nice thing about going to one of those schools is you will get a killer discount on tools as well. looking back for me i felt like wyotech was a wasted of my money, especially considering the fact that i am heading down the road of a mechanic now lol. i hope that was some kind of help
