Been having some spasm here and there over last 10 years or so. Last year about this time had one and have never gotten straight since. They did a MRI then and found osteoarthritis ,degeneration in L3-5 disc's,sciatica and scoliosis. They wanted to do injections then and i chickened out .So did Physical Therapy ,Chiropractor and massage over the year with little if any help.Last Wednesday morning had a slight shock in my hip area while setting a car lift, then the big one at lunch at my house. This was the longest and worse spasm I've ever had and made me dial 911. They did Cat Scans and MRI finding not a lot of change since last MRI a year ago.So now trying injections and can't work ! SUCKS !!

damn man im sorry. i can some what relate, when i was 17 i broke my back, severed a bit of my spinal chord, its not a fun injury, back injuries suck. my best piece of advice is stay away from surgery, i got some shots in my back i dont remember what they were tho, it helped for a while, but take it easy, dont get addicted to pain pills that is not a fun route, and good luck buddy.

Dam,you OK now ? Talking of the pain pills,i think the Advil and BC's did more than the crap I'm taking now .Was taking Percocet ,but stopped and now taking a antiflammatory and muscle relaxer.

yeah i have made a full recovery, i mean the pain pills are necessary sometimes, but that stuff is addicting, and it will get harder and harder to back off. i was on morphene for like a week on that one, my longest stint on morphine was like 3 weeks and that was a horrible recovery because of that. but the muscle relaxers can be bad too, just be careful and aware. rest is your best friend in this game.

I've definately been there! A large pole hit my spine my freshman year of high school (looooong story), and it ended up breaking L1 bone. After an ER trip, I found out I had scoliosis and an odd case of spina bifada. Because of those things, I get shots every now and then to dull the pain. They work pretty well for me! Good luck with yours.

Kait.

Well, now my back is kinda pissed off after this week. Spent 30 minutes trying to close a soft-sided trailer that had about 3 inches of ice on top, followed by 10 hours behind the wheel (13 hour day), yesterday was 600 miles (14 hour day), and now I'm just saddle sore. I'm thinkin that layin on the waterbed tonight will do me some good. Its always made my back feel better when it hurts, thats all I know.

When I was younger I did something to my back while trying to get the seatbelt bolts loosened on a 76 Cutlass. Spent Christmas day sitting in an upright position. It hurt too much to do anything else. I have a few inherited things with my back, but compared to what it could be, my back is pretty solid. Ever since that Christmas I refuse to lift anything without first making sure my back is straight. My dad fights back pain, my mom fights degenerative disk whatever, I don't want to follow in their foot steps.
