Totally agree with you man. I would never be able to forgive myself if dog got hurt, or worse. I'll put him in the bed, when it's not moving.

Put them in the bed, tie them down or don't... they're dogs, any smart dog knows better than to jump out of a moving object. If it doesnt know better, thats just natural selection.

As for me, I kept my dogs in the bed of my truck daily. The only instance in which one ever left the bed unintentionally was when i forgot they were back there and went through an automatic car wash with the brushes.. One of them jumped up and bit the brush while it was spinning and it yanked him out of the bed. Ooops..

We've never had any luck with our dogs in trucks. They won't stay in the bed so they've always ridden in the cab and they wrestle with us the whole time because they don't like it. Needless to say We almost never take them anywhere.

One of our friends has a dog that rides pretty nice in the bed, and he even has baskets mounted on his tractors so the dog can ride with him while hes working in the fields. Back when he had two dogs he would have a dog on each fender.

But me i have 2 JRT's they ride in the cab. cause if they see a cat, squirl or any outher fuzzy creature they would jump outta the box and go kill it. LOL.

i hate those fucking idiots who let their dogs go OUT of the perimeter of the box its just stupid. i

last year i was deer hunting and it just happended to be at the same time as bear season out there and so we sawe a few coon/bear dog trucks with the boxes under and a big flat bed for their lead and bay dogs (please correct me if im using the wrong terms) anyway this one guy had all of his dogs out of their boxes and in the back which was fine but then he had a rubber mat on the hood with another dog standing on it while he was driving....granted they were not driving very fast but still...pretty cool but stupid IMO since itd be hard to see the road

And what if the vehicle wasn't moving? Say...stopped at a light or stuck in traffic? I agree that they typically won't jump out of a moving vehicle, but who knows what they will see and want to chase down when the truck stops. Then you're going to look like a ******* when you're chasing down your dog.

LOL, i'm all about natural selection. Survival of the fittest. But not when it comes to an important part of your life that might not know any better. My dog is VERY well trained. He listens to me, and only to me. But you never 100 percent know whats going on in their head. They see something they want, and they will chase it.

Its like having a kid. You want to do anything you can to protect them. They don't have that survival of the fittest instinct yet, so thats where you come in to protect them from harm.

As stated before, my dog is a member of my family, and I'm going to do anything I can to keep him safe.

I just recently started letting my dog ride in the back of my bed. Though I drive pretty slow, But she hardly moves when shes back there. But as of now I have my topper on there, But the rear glass is busted out. But she does fine, I don't really see a big problem with people having there dogs ride in the bed.
Though it also depends on the dog. I'd never take my dog in the back of my bed anywhere past 35mph.
When I see dogs in the back of the bed of trucks on the highway, I think that's just crazy.

I have two Siberian Husky's, and they both ride in the back. If I let them ride in the cab, there would be hair EVERYWHERE, and sadly I love my FX4 Level II's interior too much to let that happen : )

I had one bad experience with it and I don't think I could ever do it agian... Well at least not anytime soon. If they are trained right they can be in the back.

My buddy let his bull mastiff ride in the back...Sometimes it would ride up front too...he took that damn dog everywhere. It would guard his truck/trailer when he was mowing lawns. I always kept my akita in the passenger seat...It amused me how she would sit in the seat like a hooman.

I always put the dog in the passenger seat. he'd jump out of the bed lol. as has been stated, if they're trained for it, I don't see a problem with riding in the back, but I like having him in the truck with me.
