I'm majoring in mechanical engineering right now and am goin to school full time for it. If you are really good at math then it would probably be ok to take math classes online, but the good thing about goin to a class with a teacher is that you can ask questions whenever you want too, and trust me, im in calculus right now and im constantly going to my professors office to get help.

Re: Mechanical Engineers
Shit Scott thanks for the ALL the info. Doing something like that is something Im deff interested in doing. My goal is to possibly run something small for a while and build roof racks, skid plates and off road/pre runner type bumpers. Do the CAD stuff then Fab it up myself. Thats the dream. My main downfall is work. I can work anywere from Graves to Swings to a day shift.

Re: Mechanical Engineers
Thats when you will have to work something out with work if applicable or it wont happen man. Thats the sad truth. IMHO, solely an online degree is trash, doesnt teach you anything unless you can actually watch instructors teach online. But there is still nothing like hands on.
Either way, your plan sounds nice, now the execution is key

Yea Im going to chat with my supers about it before I come back and try and work something out with the school and work. Im also trying to persue a Cert. in welding to help with the Fab side of what I want to do. In agree on the online part 100 percent to be honest. Ive taken a couple courses and cant remeber shit. Since this is something I want and something Im dedicated in doing its going to get the ball rolling ASAP. Thanks again man youve been a REALLY big help!

Re: Mechanical Engineers
So would it be like a degree in drafting? Also if in the long run would it still carry over to a mechanical engineer degree?

Re: Mechanical Engineers
It could. "Supposedly" all of my classes/credits transfer right into the Mechanical Engineering Degree at the University of North Carolina at Charlotte. Im not going to get it so I really dont know. Ive heard so many stories of people taking transfer curriculum at a Community College and it not transferring to a 4-year University
But yes it is a Drafting Degree. That college I posted, is it in your area?
