Default Reccomendation for a Sedan

My girlfriend's Focus is a headache and I'm sick of trying to fix the thing. When she bought it, it looked like a good deal, but now its obvious that it had been in an accident before. The hood and right door were repainted (badly), the right mirror isn't stock. The right wheel was WELDED on. Anyways her and I are going to look today for a used car for her. She wants a sedan and wants something reliable. Anybody have any good experiences with a car and would reccomend it?

1st gen. Ford Fusions are cheap in prices right now and they are reliable, i'd say get one of those.

newer models:
ford fusion as above, or
honda accords usually last a while and are pretty quick haha.
some vw's are pretty reliable, especially the turbo diesels if you can find one. a buddy has 180,000 trouble free miles on a stock 01 passat.

the ultimate, are used volvos. not sure how old you want to go, but mostly the 90's models had the stellar reliability, though... 850s, 940/960s, etc. they last literally forever, are fun to drive, and really nice. I almost bought a 850 T-5R. oh man, what a car haha, as long as you can get over the box on wheels look lol

I owned a 1998 Chevy Malibu V6 Auto for several years.
I replaced one front rotor that warped.
An excellent value, 38 mpg on the freeway, roomy with a big trunk.

I had a 2001 Taurus that was great. Good gas mileage and comfortable to drive.

Yes, what's the budget? I may be biased, but Mazda6's are great! She doesn't need the v6 like I've got, the 4cyl has plenty of power. Its the duratec 2.3 with a vvt head. All years are reliable, but I feel the 03-05 sport models look a lot better than the 06-08 ones do.

i say go with an accord or civic, i have had both, and they have always treated me really well, plus if you wanna mod it or play with it, it has unlimited potential.

As for the budget she only wants to pay $1k more than what she gets for her Focus. Right now her Focus is in good condition and nothing is really wrong with it and it has 89,000 miles. So I'm thinking we'll get somewhere between 3,500-4,000 range. So her budget is around 5k.

Are you still talking about the same car?
The headache that you are sick of trying to fix?
The one that has been wrecked with the paint problem?
With the mismatched mirrors?
With the wheel welded on?
You should be able to get about 12 to 14k for that.
Take it to a dealer and trade it for a new car - it should be a straight up trade.
FOOL!

well that rules Fusion out. You might be able to get a used Taurus for that tho.

the vw jetta's are pretty good, plus i think the older ones came with a diesel? idk ive just been told that. and i know its really not a sedan, but the hhr's are really good with mpg, and have plenty of room.
