First: I'm very sorry to hear of your son's accident.
Second: I have to agree, don't do things out of anger. Granted, there should have been a teacher nearby. But with that said, I can remember how easy it was to do things without being seen in grade school. Specially when one teacher is trying to watch 15, 20 maybe more, children who are not all in the same spot. I was actually pushed through a closed glass window in the lunch room with MANY teacher within eye sight. Yet no-one saw who pushed me. (go figure)
Third: I would, however, speak with the school. Mainly the teacher, to find out exactly how it happened, where they (the teacher) was at the time of the accident, and why it was able to happen. If nothing else, it may help keep another child from getting hurt.
Main thing is, your son will be okay. Could have been a lot worse.

Boys are boys. Accidents happen. Focus more on getting your son taken care of instead of trying to sue somebody or blame others for an accident that your son had.

I am sorry to hear about your son. That is a tough age to break a leg. I remember my little brother braking his leg when he was about 8.

Definitely do the physical therapy when they tell you to. My wife is a PT, so I am a little bias. They will help make his leg stronger then before he broke it. Especially if you can find a good pediatric PT.

I would definitely go talk with the principal and teachers involved. I know kids will be kids, but jumping from bench to bench over and over is something the teacher should have stopped. I am all about kids getting out and playing, but certain types of play should not be done at school. Too many kids around who could get hurt.

Thanks everyone, I have no intentions of a lawsuit, we have insurance, and school has already givin us paperwork, to cover anything insurance doesnt.. I know boys will be boys, and accidents will happen..

Rebecca and I will be very persistent with the PT, he starts tomorrow the learning of crutches and a wheelchair..

Ah he'll be fine. Once all the chicks start signing his cast, he'll think it's cool.

Dang man, that sucks. I think you're handling this the right way. Best wishes to your son for a speedy and full recovery.

This reminds me of my freshman year. I hit a wall in PE while running, and broke my wrists. I went to the ER, and got a cast. Well, somehow one of the deans found out, and called me to his office, and chewed me out saying that I didn't break my arm at school. Long story short I got escorted out of the dean's office by two other deans, and my mom was called in and the dean then proceeded to tell her how I was a liar. I have no idea why he was so intent on proving I did it elsewhere. I had no intentions of suing the school, as it was my own dumb fault for running towards the wall and not turning away. It's sad that people get so sue happy that those on the receiving end have to act like that.

Not to mention he's gonna be a wheelchair wheelie pro in about a week. When I was in a chair for a while, once I learned wheelies I was glad to stay in it. I missed doing wheelies in it once I started walking again.
