Yep. Unfortunately in my case I can't because either my mobility issues kick in, or I don't have what I need to fix the problem in terms of tools. Once I get a job though, I'll be building my own vehicle that I can work on without alot of tools and have no problem getting what I need to take care of any problems that may occur. I'll be building a T-bucket while my ranger will become a secondary vehicle. That way I won't get ripped off by shoddy workmanship.

Re: Non Ford Ranger Horror Stories
my brother had a 86 suzuki samurai 4x4 5 speed 1.3.....most fun car ever, no power steering, everyone was like that little thing cant go muddin, the hell it couldnt we tore any place up that someone said they got stuck in, it was so light it drove on top of the mud it never sank lol the heaviest thing was the wheels. literally. but finally one day he broke a bushing and was hung in neutral we had to push it a mile and half out of a trail, wasnt that hard considering we lifted it up one time just 3 people. had one carb issue and that bushing. thats it. it was one hell of a little sammy. i miss our zuk.

Re: Non Ford Ranger Horror Stories
Dad had an early 80's diesel 4x4 Chev 1 ton.
The fuel filter was on top of the manifold at the rear by the firewall.
It would vapor lock!
He had to leave it running when stopped for short periods of time.
He carried a spray bottle of water in the truck at all times so that if he did shut it off he could spray the filter to cool it off so it would start again.
That is a great big 'ol WTF!! Are you fuckin' serious??!!!??

Yep. And what about them old "Glow Plugs" they were a pill to change to say the least. And the old saying concerning a 2 cycle diesel was this: "if aint leaking oil, it aint got no oil", L.O.L.

Re: Non Ford Ranger Horror Stories
i have yet to have any bad experiences with my vehicles....of course 3 of the 5 vehicles i've owned have been Rangers and 2 of them i built myself...
my 96 i bought from an Air Force cadet with 72k on the clock....never had major issues besides the usual...brakes, plugs, filters....
after i replaced the motor (bought it with bad motor) in my 87 i never had any issues except for a clutch....
and my 85 i built last fall has a list of issues but they are all from the fact it sat outside under a lean to for 10 years...fuel system replacement, wiring replaced......seals and gaskets are the major issues i've been chasing...the rest has been normal wear and tear
even with all the little quirks.....it has NEVER left me stranded on the side of the road.
it even had the testicular fortitude to pull multiple vehicles out of ditches this past winter including an ext. cab 2wd F150 and a 2500 dodge 4x4 (the guy laughed and said i could "try" and pull him out....he wasn't laughing when he handed me a $20 and said thanks)
i take care of my trucks and they take care of me

I can say the same things about my other rangers as well as this one. The only quircks that I know the Ranger has is in just about all of the models. The IAC Valve seems to be common, the clutch system with the manual trannys, and the camsahft position tensioner goes out around 80 to 85K miles on the old 3.0. But other than that, that's just about all of what you'll encounter with the ranger platform, really. The rest is just normal wear and tear to be honest.

Re: Non Ford Ranger Horror Stories
When I was 16 (2 weeks after I had gotten my license) my uncle let me take his '04 Z06 out for the day. Coming home at night driving by some state land know to have a lot of deer. One jumped out in front of me so I swerved, it jumped over me with the second leap and I ended up sliding into the ditch and putting a little dent and some scratches in the rear end

Re: Non Ford Ranger Horror Stories
before my ranger i had a 2003 land rover freelander, G4 edition. so it was outfitted with brush/light guards, roof rack, black on black leather, the whole shibang. cept it didnt run for shit. first it was a heavy as hell, so it was a pig to get up to speed, second it was always broken and in the stealership. the cel was always on cause of constant vaccuum leaks, land rover was constantly dicking with us, and it cost over 3 grand for the timing belt to be replaced! some idiot bristish designer decided to put it at the back of a transversaly mounted motor so the motor has to be pulled to replace the timing belt. so the car ended up getting replaced with my ranger. we're still trying to sell the SOB though.
