Re: Energy Drink Substitute
back in 2002 they had this wieght lefting pills I would buy at meijer. They came in a JUG things were huge! Any how, they had the epineferine/ephedra..? (spelling) that is now illegal. I tell you what I would take six a day. Id get up at 4am take 2 head down the high school gym, run 2-3 miles then lift for a solid 2 hours.
Those things were freaking awesome! But I had my scare and stopped taking them, I was working one day and took two and ended up chugging a 2 liter of dew. About 45 min later I could feel my heart punding thru my chest! I stopped taking them after that. prolly why they were banned.
I guess you just have to be careful about taking anything in "excess" even if just caffiene...

Re: Energy Drink Substitute
i took a 5 hour energy on new years eve, tasted like cough syrup and made me feel really tired so that doesn't work at all. You could try the low carb energy drinks or drink regular pop, i also heard that eating apples and drinking apple juice can wake you up too.

Re: Energy Drink Substitute
You can make a drink mix every morning (or when ever), out of powder mixes you'd find in a health store. They are energy boost made of natural ingredients, only thing is they can be quite expensive. But really great for your body and kicks you alive with energy from the get go. If you have a health food store near you I would suggest taking a gander. Energy drinks can take up to five weeks for that crap to get out of your body, (so I've read but could be wrong)
Anyways just an idea hope you find something.

Ephedrine is legal and can still easily be acquired legally through many big name stores if you know what to look for.
The reason it was banned as a dietary supplement is because people who had no idea what they were doing started popping the pills, working out like crazy, and collapsed. Ephedrine combined with caffeine has been deemed by many to do wonders, but it's very taxing on the heart... when you combine intense physical activities on top of that your heart becomes overwhelmed.

Why not just eat properly? Energy drinks are a scam.

Re: Energy Drink Substitute
I'll never understand why people rely on energy drinks to get through every day. Get a decent nights sleep (7-8 hrs) and eat a balanced breakfast, a solid lunch (not fast food), then a good dinner. You'll be amazed at how energized you feel the next day. People made it for centuries without "monster" or "red bull" and did just fine, there's no sense in packing your body full of bullshit just to make it an extra few hours in the workday bc you couldnt put down call of duty or some shit the night before.
If your family has a history of diabetes, PUT THE SHIT DOWN NOW before you make it any worse on yourself. You need to take care of your body now, so it wont affect you so bad further down the road.

Re: Energy Drink Substitute
Boy some good advice out ther e. I used to drink about 8 cups of coffee a day and found out I had all sorts of stuff go wrong . Ulcers , etc . Now I am on Nexium twice a day , can't eat spicy foods and need to watch my diet .
Be careful as it will catch up to you at some point . I love all of the responses and edgeman and Pink Rocker says it very well .
Its just not worth your health .... Use vitamins and a good diet . Just my opinion

X2, I wish i practiced this more than i preach it but this is truly the only good alternative. Its amazing how good you will feel if you cut out all the crap from your diet for just one week and try to get on a good sleeping schedule.

I took out the rest, and kept the essential.
When i am really tired, and i realllyyy need it (aka last resort), i use Rage Shot.
That 60ml sucker contains 150mg of caffeine.
I'd see my doctor instead of finding new ways to fight the internal clock, he/she might have better sensible tricks that won't jeopardize your general health.

Re: Energy Drink Substitute
i feel ya man, i used to ride on a sponsored bike team that got flow from redbull, then i worked at a company endorsed by monster, i was getting bad, like 5-6 cans of monster every day, sometimes more. i finally kicked the habit a few months ago, and after a few weeks you will start to feel the same as you did with the drinks. try to kick the habit for a month then let us know how you feel.
