In a dilemma and need some advice
Alright well i have this 2004 ford taurus ses with 100k miles on it. It ran fine till the cat took a shit and it's 650$ for a new one. It has some rust and a big dent in the door and scratches and what not.
Problem is i don't have a title for it. I am in the process of trying to get one but it is taking forever and i don't think i am capable of getting it. The car isn't stolen, it is just a really long story.
The dilemma is, should i just take the car to the scrap yard and see what they will pay? Or should i part it out? I have a two people that want some little things like a headlight and a bumper cover. But what about the engine and trans? I don't have the time nor the tools to take them out.
So what should do? Thanks for the help guys. The car is just really getting in my way now, It is taking up half of my garage and i want to do something with it.
If anyone needs any parts let me know
I have someone willing to give me 200$ shipped for one headlight and the bumper cover

Re: In a dilemma and need some advice
there are places that can get you a title but it does cost money... I would just scrap it as is if money is tight.... if you decide to dump it in the lake, give me a call id like to put someone in the trunk first lol

Re: In a dilemma and need some advice
id sell it to the junkyard. parting it out will make you a few bucks now, but you'll have a metal heap that nobody wants later.

lol @ Bob.
I'd just get rid of it. Part it out, then sell the shell/engine to whoever wants it, be it private party or scrapyard. You will have to get a title though, unless you can get in contact with McShady's Auto Parts.

Re: In a dilemma and need some advice
Well i don't have insurance on it so the dumping it in the lake won't work out for me lol.
I know a mcshadys..... lmao
But i am going to part what i can and then just put an ad on craigslist and if someone wants the engine or trans they have to pull it. And i will cut the cats off and scrap them

Re: In a dilemma and need some advice
To sell to a junkyard/ scrap yard without a title, I believe it has to be in like 3 or 4 pieces. But this probably also varies from state to state.

Either you can, or you can't. If its not stolen, even if it takes a while, do it.
My brother has had a lot of cars, those that weren't good enough for resale, he sold in parts and made a LOT more than selling to a scrapyard. I'd advertize it on cl (since its big in the US) and your local net ads, after you make your money, give the rest to the scrapyard, they'll be more than happy to pick it up to profit from the rest.
Just a suggestion, could be different where you live.
edit: crap i just saw your last post.. lol
