Just got done watching 3: The Dale Earnhardt story. No movie has ever been able to break me down like that one does. It reminded me so much of my dad and how he lived his life, and I could relate to Dale Sr. 100%, especially in the beginning scene. My dad always believed that racing was #1, or at least that's how it seemed. Every day after work, he'd go straight out to the shop and work on his car. The only time he would ever say anything to me is when he needed a wrench or for me to hold the flashlight for him. Kids need attention, and that's something he never paid me. But in reality, that was the only way he knew. His dad did the same thing to him. It's ended up being the reason we no longer talk and why he lives 1,000 miles away, but little things like this movie remind me that he always meant well, he just didn't know how to prove it. Maybe one day things can be different and we can both just talk about trucks, because I know that's the best way for us to get along.
