Re: ever seen these airless tires?
is this what the army and marines use on there vehicles? because i know they don't run air tires wouldn't make sense if they got a flat in combat.

They're called tweels. At least they were called that a couple of years ago.

Re: ever seen these airless tires?
are the actual tires "open" on the sides or is that just for selling purposes?
because they look like crap open on the sides

Re: ever seen these airless tires?
They also make those for skid steers, I'm not sure if they ride worth a damn on a DD though. I'll stick with my air filled till then!

Not on many of them, most of their vehicles use "run-flat" tires, which are regular tires with a metal band inside of them... some are also filled with liquid... but when you're getting shot at, I don't think you're going to stop to fix a flat, so run-flats or not, you'd just keep on goin'.

Re: ever seen these airless tires?
They look like huge ass rims... Like 22's on a honda because of the little bit of tire showing... Cool concept though... Wonder how they ride

Re: ever seen these airless tires?
I've seen them before on history or discovery as they were being developed for the mars rovers. I didn't know they had some designed for cars yet and I'm not even sure how good the ride would be on them. Probably ridiculously expensive to replace too.
