oh i get it now haha bridge card is food stamps haha fuckin welfare i hate it. i used to work at a pizza place that accepted it because our pizza was uncooked. welfare people would be rolling up in thier brand new escalades, silverados, and chrysler 300s and other gangsta cars. pissed me off that they had brand new cars and were not working and i knew in my head that in reality my tax money was paying for it. scumbags of the earth if you ask me. okay im getting off my soapbox now.

I've said it for years. Anyone that's issued a "food stamp card" should have to undergo random drug testing, and only healthy foods should be allowed to be purchased. No soda, candy bars, chips, etc.. I see a girl on LINK card every week go into Caseys general store and buy about 10 sodas and 5 or 6 candy bars at once. Grrrr

^^^agreed, that just pisses me off. There was a lady the other week had bought a couple cases of MTN DEW 24 pak. Bought them and went straight back to the pop return and started dropping them. FULL CANS, just to get the .10 refund.

They may use the internet at the library or somewhere else that it is free. Don't always jump to assumptions about people. I agree the website is a waste of money, but think about this for a minute. Lets says someone who has worked in the auto industry or something like that and lost their job, they may be a hesitant to use a bridge card, but the sticker allows them to use it and not have people really know what it is. There are a lot of people who need assistance right now, especially in MI.

I know there are problems with welfare but it is there for a reason, to help families who need assistance. I grew up with low income housing behind my house and saw the people driving new cars, but I also saw the families working hard to get themselves moving in the right direction financially.

Before people start complaining about welfare and the waste of it. Ask yourself if you have ever been truly poor? Have you ever worried if you will be able to pay rent for the month and keep food on your table?

I have lived with those worries. It was before my kids were born and my wife was out of school, but I could not imagine living like that with kids.

I have a food stamps card (EBT), but I really don't abuse it, nor do I do drugs, I totally agree with the random drug testing, so many people would be out of welfare help.

Unlike a lot of people with them, I do work part time, and get some money monthly from school, but my bills add up to about $600/ month, not even mention gas, and other expensis.

Having it really helps a lot, but...I agree, most people really do abuse them, I see it all the time.

I lost my job years ago and use an EBT card. I drive a nice truck. it's 10 years old, but it looks only 4 years old. my condo is worth $150,000 which was paid off in under 5 years and i wear nice clothes, but I am not on any other government programs, I am $30,000 in Debt, I use the internet to send out resumes and search for jobs.

Around this area there are so many people that abuse the system. There is a sterotype for people that use this thing. We have a bridge card, I have been off work since 2008 with 2 ruptured discs in my back. We get 246 a month for food.

I guess I was just getting at the people who misuse the asistance, they sell the card for drugs, booze and smokes. Pat can contest to this about the area around here. Muskegon is often referred to as the arm pit of Michigan. Yes, there is a few % of people who really need it and don't abuse it.

Shit, around here if your a woman have a kid or two, dont work, you basically get a free ride. I know countless people that get their Utilitys paid for, rent paid for, get $500 a month in food stamps. I'm ashamed to even live in michigan, let alone muskegon.

Being from Oklahoma the 49th poorest per capita state next to #50 being Mississippi
and trying to live on $674 dollars a month from SSI,and $42 from the state,I "make too much" to qualify for food stamps.I see folks every day gamming the system while I have to make the weekly rounds to the churches/soup kitchens with my hat in my hand.

everyone around here has bridge cards, too. a lot of abusers who trade it for other things, and a lot who dont. my family has it, and it really does help out a lot. my dad works his ass off to pay rent and other expenses, and my moms been off work because of a hernia surgery gone wrong, resulting in nerve damage. its crappy that when you pull it out at a store and people roll their eyes or whatever. they dont even have a clue what its lke to need it.
