Don't mind the shades.. they were safety-rated fit-overs for my actual glasses.. which are now broke.

I'm scared of heights.. but once you get up there, the fear goes away and the view just eases your heart and mind.
The climb is a bitch, though!

I used to work as an installer for DirecTV, and one thing that I had a hard time with originally was heights. We had to climb a ladder up to 70 feet, and I took my time. Anyway, my instructor told me something that I will never forget. He said that "Almost everyone here is afraid of heights, and it isn't the lack of fear that gets someone injured or killed but the lack of attention. It is recognizing the fear and being safe that allows us to return home each day". The more I think about this, the more I think that he is correct.

Amen!
My test climb was three and a half years ago. I got up top into the nacelle and that was as high as I wanted to go.. but then I poked my head out of the top hatch and had a look around. I didn't want to go up top, but the view was amazing.
When they finally got me to get up there, and after my legs stopped shaking, I took a look around and thought, "Yeah.. this is the job I want."
.. and then they told me to go out to the hub. I belly-crawled across the top of the nacelle between two gigantic blades, and slid down into the nose-cone. Now, as you can see, I can lay between those blades when it isn't fully rabbit-eared (it should have been, but we're kinda crazy) and relax a bit.
I still keep it as safe as I can. OSHA's got their eye on me, of course.
