Don't sweat it dude. You did a really good job. It's easy for people to be dildo platters on the Internet. Don't get down because somebody don't like what you did. I don't see any of them with custom interior. Be proud and stand up for what you believe in.

My vent is the way I responded to a situation at work with a disabled person who was giving me a hard time, and for those that don't know, I work at a major league ballpark as an usher/ticket-taker. Anyway, I was placed in a section that normally I am not assigned (which is the season ticket holder section and also the 3rd base side) and near a tunnel. Coincidentally, that is the side that I would prefer if I went to a game. Now that the season is winding down and the Indians aren't doing well, attendance has been poor. One of the more unpleasant parts of my job is to be familiar with the fans that I sat or in other words be on the lookout for those that might pay for a cheaper ticket and then sit in a more prime location. Most fans show me their ticket and I escort him/her to their row, and I say something to the effect of "Enjoy the game". Some fans act a little snobbish by waving their ticket or showing me the ticket upside-down and/or say something such as "I know where I'm sitting" or "I'll find my seat". Fine, no problem "Have a nice day", "thanks for coming to the ballpark", etc. My section included a standing room only section that was partially roped off, and it is immediately behind the handicap seats on the main level, and it isn't uncommon for someone to be passing through and stopping to take a look at the game. Fine, no problem. We're not going to check your ticket for that. Well, I had gone to my scheduled break, and when I returned to my post at the top of the section, it so happened that in addition to a couple people in the handicap row was a gentleman in a wheelchair that I had seen at previous games. He had a headset on listening to the game while keeping score on a scorecard, and he was seated directly behind the actual handicap seats (in the roped off section). I had just taken one step down on the step by the rail and politely turned around to ask the handicap people, if I were blocking anyone's view, and he gave me a hand gesture with both hands raised and a loud tone "I can't see the batter". To those not quite understanding what I am saying, he gave me that "you're a moron look" with his sharp tone and I was peeved. I went the 8feet or so to him and as politely as I could said "I would have moved" and he shook his head or whatever. At that time, I noticed that management or higher up was standing nearby and I walked over to him and motioned that I had a question. I informed him of what happened and was told, "Well he isn't in a ticketed seat, and in fact, is in a standing room only area. You have the right and the job to let him know that he is in an area that he didn't pay for, and you are not required to move because your in your proper spot". I wanted to let the whole thing pass because I didn't want to be known as the person who told a guy in a wheelchair to move, but now I knew if things escalated that I wasn't mistaken about that area not being an actual seating area. A couple innings later (and closer to the end of the game), the ushers are required to move farther in because fans are not entering the section rather leaving. This is important because instead of having me in-between two sections, there were now three of us almost bunched together unless one of us moved a couple rows down. It was "my section" during the game, so I had the task of letting the man know that he would be blocked and unfortunately not much we could do except asking him to move a little because he was in a ticketed area w/o a ticket. Well, I went up to him, and instead of being the better person and politely saying something more professional, such as "Would you mind moving over just a couple of feet because you are most likely going to be blocked from view", I fear that I made the situation worse by saying something to the effect of "You know that you're in a ticketed seat w/o a ticket and didn't pay for a handicap seat, and I was hoping that you'd move during the couple innings of free pass. I don't like the way I was snapped at, and I could have had you removed and I didn't, so I suggest you find another seat". Ironically, he complied and moved over 6 feet or so. I am typically a very mild-mannered, very easy going person, and honestly, I had no intention of hurting his feelings. I was trying to explain that I knew he was taking advantage of the situation. I know that two wrongs don't make a right, and I feel very badly but the whole situation could have easily been avoided by him simply saying, "Yeah, my view is obstructed" or simply by moving over the couple feet when he realized that my job required me to be at that spot. I feel like absolute crap and there is no way that I could ever change the situation. I'm very sorry for the long post, but I feel that all the details were needed in order to accurately explain the situation. Has anyone else had a situation similar? Thanks in advance.

Yea there called *******s i deal with them every day lol and i took the time to read it cuz i have nothing better to do at 1230 on a friday night lol u did what u had to do the dude disrespected you and you handled it like man .. You went to your superior and he gave you options/suggestions and you didnt let the situation escalate .. Job well done brother
