so...its negative on temperature with visibility of shit, and i had the day off from classes because of the weather, and what happens but i get called and told i HAD to be at work cause the other guy decided he didnt want to go sit out there...

I don't think that it is the public speaking that the reason they are required. It is more that you can express in words what you are thinking/writing.

I hated my speech classes in high school and college, but they did help me. I know I can stand up and talk to a group of people now without worrying about it.

Do you have to read a kids book in class? One of our speeches was reading a kids book. I read Green Eggs and Ham.

No kids books. And this class is about every aspect of how you speak, whether you read fast/slow, whether you stutter. The professor puts marks for all of that.

As for turnitin, it sucks big time. I just hate the feeling wondering if it's gonna find something you didn't intend to put. I've been told that you can expect up to 20% plagiarism and be okay, but I'd like to stay at 0%.

Does it look for exact phrase matching? or does it look for similar wording/writing?

0% is a good goal. I would be shooting for that too. Do you have the ability to argue your case if the website comes back saying you plagiarized?

My Vent: I got to get my mail, plows broke my mailbox. I fix it and drive to the post office to get my mail. The *******s tell me I cant get my mail because my mailbox is broken, so I tell them it has been fixed and I just missed the mail carrier so I came to get my mail from the post office. They say its against regulations for me to pick up my mail at the post office. So I was already unhappy about standing in knee high snow fixing the mailbox and then they tell me I cant get my mail at the post office. I kinda freaked out a bit especially when I see my mail carrier walking in with my mail. So fuck them, they will get every heavy package I get now

Nice, that's showing them. I had the same when I missed my carrier with a package of mine. So went to the post office and I had to show two identifications, street address and so on and so on. I was like just give me my fucking package. Stupid people in this world I tell you.

The teacher herself has a laid back attitude, and she could be worse, but she nitpicks the small stuff.

I think it looks for similar phrasing.

You better damn believe I'd be arguing my case if it did. But they say to expect it since turnitin can't recognize quotes. WTF is that? I just think it's dumb because if you are accused of plagiarizing, you have to take a $40 Academic Integrity course on why you should be honest.

drove 30 mins today to a place but the gate were closed so I had to turn around and drive 40 mins back

I want to propose to my girlfriend and i know the exact ring she wants but i am $300 short and im busting my a$# trying to get the money but I cant come up with it and I think the guy is gonna sell the ring before I can get the money. I know Marriage isnt about the ring and its about love but I want to give her everything she wants and its hard knowing everything i do isnt enough.

Matbe dumb but if its something you REALLY want could you get a small personal loan for the rest? Or like a credit card?

I have student loan debt from where i followed her to school out of state so I cant get a loan, income tax refund will cover it but i wont get it for another 2 weeks and Im scared the ring will be sold before then and I wanted to propose on valentines day anyways

I absolutely hate how members on here bash on eachother daily. And They know who im talking about. Its isnt just once in a while, its every time I come on here they are bitching at eachother. I cant stand it. Take It to a private chat. NOT ON THE FORUMS. By hijacking another members forums you look like a damn child. You can at least act your age on here. Be civil for goodness sakes. If you dont like what someone else does to their truck WHO CARES! NOT ME! they bought the damn thing they can do whatever they want.
