This may sound funny to some, but in all seriousness have you ever considered writing a book or short stories?
No. I've never considered it. I've heard of people doing it. But in all honesty, I wouldn't feel safe doing that.

(What I'm about to say may change the way you view me)

The usual amount of people that a soldier has to kill in the infantry is 10. That is after 5 combat tours or so. I've been on 3. I'm about to go on a fourth. I have killed 38 enemy fighters. And it's with a SAW. It's not pretty. And the enemy, would love it if they were to get my name off of the front of a book. It's not a good idea. And even if I used a different name, that stuff can be traced. It was different with Vietnam. They hadn't hit us at home. But knowing that the people I'm pissing off could come after the people I care about? Hell, even you guys? That's not something I would like to risk.

It's alright. If I hadn't have done so much combat wise, I would do it. But I've seen a lot of combat.

Yay! Lol.

I actually lost a lot of friends after my first deployment. They all looked at me different and treated me like I was damaged. The only person that hasn't changed the way they are around me and the way they look at me is Breanna. I am the luckiest man on earth. Both for surviving and for having a wonderful lady who loves me. I am spilling so much to you guys right now. Lol.

I know that now.

If I want you guys to pull anything from this, its to be thankful for what you have. Cars, houses, money, they don't matter. Not really. What matters is the people that surround you. The people that truly love you. The people that let you be you. They are what matter. That's what I fight for in Afghanistan. I don't fight for money, honor, glory, medals, or recognition. I fight to defend those I love. And I'm honored to do it.

So thank YOU guys. For supporting me. For giving me reason to fight on. To persevere. To survive. When I was injured, I wasn't thinking about politics. I wasn't thinking about money. Hell, I wasn't even thinking if surviving. I was thinking about HOME. Breanna. My wonderful beautiful FiancÚ that loves me so damn much even though I don't deserve it. That's what matters. The people that love you.

So guys, even if relationships don't work out. Even if you find yourself on rock bottom, just know that there is always somebody that loves you and that I am out there somewhere with my buddies fighting for you. Just remember that. Remember all the things that make you smile. Remember everything guys. This is your life. You only get it once. So cherish it. Fill it with people that love you and who you lie right back.

But most of all?

Give your life PURPOSE.
