You are not entirely right here. Changing it at 4000 is probably good, since you probably do a lot of stop and go traffic. But as for which engine will let you run 10k before changing, those would be everything from Kia's to Benz's. It depends on the car that you purchase. They are all starting to go with some sensor, or calculation in the ECM that tells you when to change it. I know in some new Porsche's that the interval can be 15000

I find those 15,000 Km cars B-S Ford recommends we change the oil in our truck at every 8,000Km, I changed mine at 4,000 Km and the shit was black. its stupid!.... some BMWs dont even have dipsticks so you cant even check the oil yourself, you have to go to a tech.

i know, i was saying you cant leave that oil in the engine that long if the motor isnt built for it, and yeah ill never go over 5000 miles before an oil change cause our motors arent built for that kinda time frame between oil changes

Tolerances in modern engines and filtration systems are good enough you can run them that long. You realize diesel semi trucks normal change interval is 10k-15k and has been for something like 30 years? Its all about the oil used and the conditions you drive in. As for your oil being black, change your oil, then drive 100 miles, then check the oil. Then check it again at 1000, 2000, etc...it will be almost as dark at 100 miles as it is at 2000 miles. Modern oils have major detergents in them to help remove the sludge, so they turn pitch black. It is perfectly normal for the oil to look pitch black 100 miles after you change it

As for no dipsticks in BMWs, I think that more has to do with idiots that buy them with small penises that never car about them anyway...so they don't know what they are looking at if they knew where the dipstick was lol

um no, bmw's have a ozs [oil condition sensor] that can not only tell you the condition of the oil [its not just timed] but also the oil level, and the computer uses that calculation, along with the way the car is driven, to calculate exactly when the oil needs to be changed. that is why bmw's dont have a dipstick. its all done through the idrive system or the BC

before you talk shit on a car, maybe you should be educated on them.

BMW's are also generally owned by "****s" as the guys on Top Gear UK would put it. These generally include idiots that have no idea what they bought, other then it is sexy, stupid fast, and shows how small their penis is so women want to sleep with them. Don't hate, he took all the information that I fed him and took it in stride. I understand the system, but I am a mechanic by trade. Not all of us here are as interested in all things automotive. We are here to learn, not bash my friend. Moving on...

i like bmw's because of the amount of technology that goes into them, and the fact theyre still a drivers car.

a friend of mine's father said he wanted to get an m3. i asked him what kind of driving he did. he said 'to work and back'. i said dont waste your money, youd never use the car to your full potential, and m3's are more maintenance than you'd want anyway. he looked at me shocked, like im supposed to spoon feed him and say "yes little johnny, its okay, you can play with the big boys", tap his helmet, and send him off while i watch. fuck no. its an m3. mans car.

Why spend $65K plus for a tail happy under insulated car when i payed $18K for a tailhappy underinsulated truck.... Just my analogy. So the Beemers a little faster and corners better, I atleast I dont have to live in a semi detached home with no furniture and bills up the wazzou to have one.
