Default Way off Ranger topic.

I have an 05 Hyundai tucson, In the midst of doing rear brakes and rotors, I broke the 2 caliper bolts off in the caliper like a dumb ass. Yeah not just 1, but both of them!!! So my question is if you replace 1 caliper, do you need to replace both?

General rule of thumb is that if you replace 1 it is best to replace both. That is since when one the calipers has a problem it messes up the other one, such as in many cases if one caliper is sticking it can be the other side that has the problem. However, if neither is bad you should be ok to replace just one.

This Korean thing has no pins, just 4 bolts to take the caliper and the frame, assembly, whatever it attches to.

I know in my ranger haynes manual it says to replace both of them...but I never have. I would assume you're good to go. My '86 F150 had its original calipers on it when I got it. If your Hundai is an '05 I would say the caliper has a bunch more miles on it.

I got fed up about it and dropped it off at a shop. The guy there said it would be 275 for just the pads and rotors...So I told him he was full of shit because I just bought everything for 71.00. So I'm sure he will try to rape me for the calipers...but I did my homework on them as well
