That hollow point is sexy sexy ammo. Took it out for an impromptu range shoot today, it was cold and raining and I didn't have hearing protection so I only shot one mag off real quick. I was the only one there.

Picked this baby up outta layaway Friday, it's a Remington 1911 R1 Commander in GI configuration.

Specs on it:

https://www.remington.com/handguns/m...1-r1-commander

Haven't shot it yet, already want to replace the trigger with a longer one and add an arched mainspring housing.. Remington uses the Series 80 firing system in them. Only thing I've done to it so far is add the stainless screws, I have this set of grips but I don't think I like them on this pistol:

Gun Pr0n:

Also wound up trading my Glock for a S&W M&P .40 with 2 mags, all 3 backstraps, LNIB. Have a set of Truglo TFO sights on the way for it.

Did you specifically choose that model or was it a special deal? Be careful, 1911's can be addicting

Happened upon it at a local shop for $500 LNIB, wanted a Para-USA Expert Commander they had and saw this one.. I know about the addiction, I've had multiple 1911s! Still plan on getting one of the Para Expert Commanders the shop has too. My old man keeps wanting to get another railed 1911.. I had a Caspian for a couple years that had the "Recon" frame which was railed and also had installed Crimson Trace grips on it.

He just won't take no for an answer and is adamant for having one with a laser no matter how many times I tell him he can't rely on that laser...

I've had a couple Taurus PT1911's in .45, 1 in 9x19mm, that caspian, numerous RIA, a Charles Daly which was Armscor/RIA, an ATI Commander, a Citadel 1911, a Para P14.45 Stainless and now this R1 Commander..

I went Smith for daily carry, this is my 9C. Thicker than the shield but more rounds, and I have a 17 round full size 9MM clip that shoves right in. Hangs out a little but who cares.
Lasers are as accurate as how you set them up. Think of it this way, mine is physically about 1/2" lower than the barrel and about 3/4" to the right of it. Blow a hole in paper, set the dot to 1/2" below and 3/4" to the right. Mine is as accurate as the pistol which is only as accurate as the hand holding it WHICH IS questionable at times LOL.

Also have to take into consideration that a lot of the lower end laser's, which my old man usually buys, will get knocked off zero after a few rounds of .45 ACP... Never really tested the CT laser grips, they were on the pistol when I traded for it and were still on it when I sold it for profit.
