I'd contact Ruger. Somethin' ain't right. Either you've got too heavy of a recoil spring or something's binding up somewhere. Either way, it's got a problem somewhere.

it's a taurus al or alr 1911 i beleive, and he bought it used, so who knows? coulda had issues the factory refused to do anything about so the PO traded it in? it's in great condition, dosin't look to have been shot much if at all. i think my buddie was gonna stop by the local shop where he bought it this week sometime and see if they'll do anything.

if its a taurus, it has a lifetime warranty that transfers. It should still be covered, even though he bought it used.

Taurus is really hit or miss. You either get a really good one or a really bad one. I have two that have been flawless, a pt140 milpro, and a pt1911.

Yeah, they make a big deal out of all their guns having a "lifetime of the gun" warranty. If it's a defect, they'll fix it.

Yes, taurus does have a lifetime warranty. But the downside is, I believe you have to send the gun to brazil

I think Taurus doesn't recommend anything other than factory loaded ammo. I'll have to look it up in my manuals as to whether it could be a warranty issue or not.

EDIT: Taurus voids your warranty if you use reloads. Of course, they have to prove it first. If you keep your weapon properly cleaned, I can't see how they could tell.

nope. You send it to Florida, and they deal with it from there. I believe if they cant fix it there, they give you a new one. It's not cost effective to send one back to Brazil for repair.

They sent my PT145 back to Brazil just for a plastic cover on the back of the slide.

You have got to be kidding me. I've seen them completely replaced because of a bad ejector. Weird. Either way, he shouldn't have to send it back to Brazil.
