Thanks for the info! My grandpa always used the two interchangeably so I guess I come from a long line of confused gun owners lol.

I love the beretta's. Went to the range with the marines I work with and shot there's. I'm lookin at getting one sometime soon. Just deciding if I want a Glock 19 or M9 first.

I love it. Got a pretty good deal on it. I've been trying to figure out the year it was made, but I keep finding conflicting info on the interwebs :/

Why? The only reason I could think of is the FN fits your hand better. Glocks are made in every size and caliber combination imaginable, are lightweight and accurate, and they just plain work. Gen 3 and back were amazing. They had some hiccups with the Gen 4's, but those are pretty much ironed out now.
Best all around combat handgun, would be the Glock.

I dont know anyone in the service that liked the M9, I personally hated that gun. The Army/ Marines should never have strayed from the 1911 .45 ACP

I personally hate Glocks, never have liked a single one Ive fired. I actually boycotted rubbermaid guns for a long time because of my hate for Glocks. I know many like them and for what reasons but I just dont. BTW, In combat I would take a 1911 over any plastic gun, but thats just me.

I liked my M9 on deployments. The capacity is nice. And personally, I think it's a very usable and efficient weapon. The 1911 is heavy. It's a very nice weapon. But, it's slow unless modified. That's just my opinion though.

I think the biggest thing I hate about the M9 is the caliber. 9mm is too fast of a round to be terribly effective in FMJ, the .45 ACP is superior in a FMJ in that regard, not to mention the 1911 is a better all around gun, heavy yes but thats a trade off for its build and accuracy.

The "rubbermaid" comment tells me you're a 1911 snob. lol. Not that there's anything wrong with that, but I'm just sayin, you shouldn't discourage people that want to look at Glocks (not that you really were). Glocks work for A LOT of people. There's no denying that.

They make Glocks in .45, ya know. In fact, at 15 yards, there is literally no difference between my grouping with my G21 and my 1911. Granted I can make 100 yard hits on silhouettes with my 1911 all day long, but I've never bothered to try that with the Glock (still have the stock sights on the G21, but my 1911 has Novak 3-dot nights).
Both guns are more than capable of combat accuracy. Glocks are very simple, very safe, and very reliable. Glocks also have a higher ammunition capacity (unless you live in NY ).
Oh, and by the way, my every day carry is a 1911.
