I've said it before and I'll say it again. Taurus is hit or miss. You either get a really good one, or a really bad one. The key is to break it down and look at the guts before you buy it. I've got a PT1911 that has countless rounds through it, with no issues whatsoever. Before I bought it, I tore it down and checked for any chatter marks, peening, etc. Heck, the barrel to slide fit on it is tighter than my Dad's Kimber.

You're completely right, and I do the same thing however I bought the gun new, but like I said could have been 1 in 1000

speaking of taurus being hit or miss my buddie got his taken care of, had a weak ejector spring or something like that causing it to stovepipe. the gunsmith at the place he bought it was pissed because they sold it before he could go through it, and scince it came back he went through it with a fine tooth comb for my buddie, did a trigger job, polished the feed ramp (i think that's what it's called?) and basically went through everything improving whatever he could.

Your odds are probably about the same with any other gun. There's a certain failure rate that companies strive for, and all the major gun companies are well within that rate, for the most part. Even Taurus.
I bought mine brand new, too. Still broke it down and checked it.

The owner of the gun shop here does the same thing. He polishes the feed ramp, cleans up any trigger slop, and then test fires a couple magazines. If it hasn't gone through the process, he won't sell it.

Yes it was! It came with the case, a full 25rd mag, speedloader, and a few misc things. Quite the deal considering I was contemplating purchasing a POS handgun for the same price as a throw around piece.

Re: Your Gun Pics, Post Em Up!
The new lower, with the upper from my M&P. It's got a CMMG parts kit in it, so it's REALLY smooth and crisp. I think I'm going to wind up SBR'ing it.

Varies widely by brand. You can build a $600 AR if you really want to, but it won't be nearly as nice as one that you spend a little more on.

CMMG lower parts kit, Fulton armory barrel and gas system, any bolt carrier assembly, DPMS stock kit, and a decent quality forged upper and lower.

Re: Your Gun Pics, Post Em Up!
Thanks, will look into it all.
Also a little side note, I paid for a used Rossi m68 (38 special) today at Midwest Shooter Supply. Got a pretty good deal on it. $100 and there's not a scratch or dent on it, no visible marks on the barrel or in the cylinder walls. Going to pick it up on Sunday.
Random pic from the interwebz...
