I just want a good first double action pistol(preferably 9mm) that's compact or sub compact and that won't cost an arm and leg.(250-400max)( I'm not loaded!!)

My opinion is to just spend a little extra. Go to a shop that has layaway (a lot do) and put that 400 down. For about $600 you can get an FN FNS-9. I have a FNX-40 and love it. I had a $1,200 SIG before and I traded it for this FN. I love this thing and carry it everyday. I've shot the FNS (striker/DAO) and like it. Going to buy a compact for a pocket pistol. But I prefer DA/SA so I got the FNX.
Don't get me wrong, you can get a decent gun for $400, but if you're only going to have this for now and the looming AWB talks...don't you want something a little better?
Just my humble opinion

Re: Your Gun Pics, Post Em Up!
Well I'm looking for a compact not a fill size and I really don't have a lot of money. If I had 1500 to spend I'd get a colt 1911. But the smaller one for concealed carry(forgot name). I just want a decent gun

The walther pk380 after they fixed them...
I saw them for 415$ new for the nickel models so I'm sure you can get them down to like 350-375. And the blued steel is probably a lot cheaper
I payed 600$ for mine before the fix

My wife isnt going to carry a .45 around in her purse. While I agree bigger is sometimes better in the caliber world the defense rounds they have out right now are stellar and I would be willing to bet a bad guy faced with a gun will not be concerned about how big the pipe is thats pointed at his chest. A defense gun is only as good as its portability and conceal ability, my .45 is fine for me but for a woman like my wife it could not be concealed under her clothes or fit in her purse so it would stay at home locked away where it is no good at anything. I would never discount any of these small pocket pistols as they are an effective and concealable alternative to larger frame guns.

Would think someone who has your screen name would buy a AMERICAN gun, not a gun built by germans, in germany who hate the American public. The $587 AR at Walmart is just as lethal as the highest priced HK or any other AR. Know anything about HK?

Look into a used Astra. They were made in Spain, and are some pretty well-made guns. They have a de****er, so you can make the first shot DA, if you want. I've seen them on gunbroker for a couple hundred bucks.

Check out the S&W SD series & the Ruger P95 (I believe that's the right model)
Both are in the $350 range.
I just saw a Taurus 9mm in the $375 price range too.

The AWB will likely ban "any weapon with a pistol grip, or any vertical grip that goes in front of the trigger"
- Something like that. I got sick reading the ban and didn't finish.
You got to remember...they want to ban everything. Including things that go phew-phew.
They're going after any removable magazine over 10 rounds, AR's, pistol grips, etc...
