It was a decent shot, but not the best. Dropped like a rock.

Yeah, I get the naysayers all the time telling me I can't kill a deer with it. I've seen what they do to a human, a deer is no problem. I'm shooting federal fusion 62 grain. A single well placed shot is all it takes!

Yup. The same people that talk crap about the .223 are usually the ones making horrible shots or missing altogether. Their bigger calibers don't help when they can't hit what they're aiming at. lol.

Exactly, a bad shot is a bad shot no matter the caliber. Knowing the limitations of your gun/ caliber and making good shots is what kills deer, not simply putting the biggest hole you can through it. A little useless fact, a 62 grain federal fusion bullet fired at ballistic gel from 100 yards expands to .54" almost double the diameter of the un fired round.

Yes it is, has really leveled the caliber planning field in a way. The .223 and .243 have become more popular medium the big game rounds with the introduction of the new ammo technology. When you really think about it there are a lot of reasons why AR's can be great guns to hunt with in a lot of ways. Optics options are pretty much unlimited, they are lightweight, compact and easy to carry, low recoil, deadly accurate and endlessly customizable. Very versital weapon.

I love it! Its just a solid AR. The enhanced version is cool too cause it comes with the nice stock, forgrip and also a good set of foldable ironsights, which I see less and less AR's coming with. True 5.56 too, I bought a bunch of NATO 5.56 rounds and have been blasting them. Did I mention is has a mount for a bayonet too?! haha. Its honestly one of the best AR's I've seen for the price.

Absolutely. I've got one set up similar to yours with a 2-7x scope and mini red dot, and then I've got another one that I built as a long range rifle with a 3-12x scope. It's unbelievable how accurate these guns can be. I was able to hit prairie dogs at 300 yards with ease. I've shot the long range build at 600 yards, and kept them in a fist sized group.
I actually bought my first one because of the low recoil. I used to use a 300 WBY Mag for deer, but after I messed up my shoulder it was painful to shoot. Still is, in fact, but I can shoot hundreds of round out of my AR without an issue.

I'm very tempted to buy some tags and shoot these two does that I almost hit once a week on the way to work. I've seen them in my yard at least twice a week. Houses around me are too close to legally shoot on my land though, except for the fact that the city is taxing us on .52 acres into the water, so technically, per the zoning, I could shoot, but not worth the real headache. Then there's the question of where to take my kill for processing.
