I carry an M&P Shield. I carried an M&P 40c for a while. The shield is nice. But, I should have looked into more options. At $340 I couldn't give it up. It's perfect for ccw but its definitely not a range toy...

I wouldn't ever get a glock. Just my preference and experience with them.

If you want her to have something quality, check out the SIG 938 or Springfield EMP. You'd be surprised how nice they shoot and are far superior than any glock.

Im assuming she wants to use it for protection. If its possible, take her to an indoor range and let her test out a few. Her opinion is the only one that matters. Contrary to some beliefs, most of the "go to" pistol calibers are not man stoppers. Shot placement is more important in a pistol fight. If a Walther is the most comfortable to her I would go for it. My other half carries a Glock 23 and is deadly with it. I would have never guessed that would have been the right gun for her.

Exactly.

Everyone has their own opinion about was is best. Lay a bunch of guns out in front of her, find out what is the most comfortable for her, and what she likes the best (comfort and performance), and go with that.

I'm more accurate with my springfield range officer 1911 .45 than I am with my glock 19 9mm. However, the 1911 is a tack driver, you can take the wings off a fly with it. My glock, I can still put 5 shots in a 2 inch group at 30 yards. Good enough for me. And the glock is MUCH more comfortable for CC. Plus you know, 15+1 versus 8+1.

I like my 1911's but I carry a Glock 21 and a 30. I have been researching for a few months now and im switching to a Glock 19 or possibly a Glock 31 or 32. The 9mm +P+ is a fairly hard hitting round.

My last day at the range after about 150 rounds I was starting to get jams. My 19? Nope....I've never had a jam or a failure to feed.....ever.

I never have either. The funny thing is I am really not that big of a fan of Glock. I just know it won't let me down when I need it, thats a strong incentive to stay with it. I really like the .357 sig round but I shoot 400-500 rounds a month and that ammo is way overpriced.

What are you using for lubricant? I ran something around 1,500 through my Recon without one hiccup. I cleaned it after since it's my carry, but I don't always clean it right after every range trip either.

1911's like grease over liquid. This is what serves me well...

Just some CLP....I haven't been able to get frog lube locally in a while.

I had noticed the ammo I was shooting that day was excessively dirty. So I'm sure that was a huge factor.

I used FrogLube before the big mold issue came about. I love the smell, but the price is absolutely ridiculous. I won't get it again. You can get it online if you want it though.

I took my Warthog out today and it only had a couple of issues that were 100% ammo related. I got some of this cheap crap because the guy swore it was decent ammo...

Not true. Pure crap. I'll never buy it again. I thought maybe it was my gun, so I put some in my Recon and got the same malfunctions. Put in some Winchester white box, no jams. Put some Federal in, no jams. Put in some Hornady Zmax, no jams.

I don't know what the problem was, but the load was definitely not right. They kicked pretty hard and the others felt real smooth.
Here's the aftermath from a little bit of boom. The pallet was whole before

Here's one of the things I was shooting at. Ended up at 144 feet away.

I forgot to get a picture of my regular target stand, but it was 40 feet out.

Overall I was very impressed. I expected a lot more kick from such a small gun. It didn't kick bad at all and was comfortable to shoot for extended times. Very happy I got it!
