ah OK. my buddie's grandfather used to hunt with a .280 pump, boy that packs a punch. never knew it was considered a 7mm round... and I remember him saying how difficult it was to find ammo.

Simo Hayha (the deadliest sniper) used a mosin with open sights.

If you look at Russian tactics at the time though, that's not incredibly surprising. 5 a day would be easy against those dopes

Zaytsev also shot mostly officers. Can't tell who's who at 1,000+ meters without optics

You know I've watched loads of documentaries on WWII and seen plenty about the Americans,nazis, and Japanese but I've never seen one that focused on the Russians. So with that being said I need to find some and learn me a little more lol

Enemy at the Gates is loosely based on fact. Obviously it's hollywoodized some.
But, mainly what happened in that film happened in real life. One guy was given a rifle and the next guy ammo.
They were told "when the one with the rifle falls, pick it up and shoot". When they tried to jump out of the boat, the officers shot them as cowards and traitors.
