Illinois just passed CC this year in June I believe. They were the last state to approve CC I believe. But they require a 16 hour safety course. Other states CC permits are not valid in this state. Which I know some states you can use other states CC license.

Huh well I know Kansas is looser than NY but still pretty hectic.

Passed it. That's it. It's still not legal to carry in Illinois. still over a year after the ruling that it's UNCONSTITUTIONAL to have a ban on carrying and the states still fucking us around. We'll be lucky if we see 1 person to have a permit by spring 2014.

Also since I am left handed and it has ambidextrous slide release and a flippable magazine release. He also said that with today's bullet's tech a 9 mil is great for home defense because it will still F$%# someone's day up and it's relatively cheap to shoot. He said that the S&W would probably be the best fit but he also suggested the Glock 19 gen 4. I have looked into Springfield XDM's and a few Heckler and Koch's also. I was just wondering what other considerations I should make?

Get whatever feels the best in your hand and is the most comfortable to shoot

Good to know. I was just reading up on it because I just moved here about a year ago now so I'm still researching laws and such. I cannot believe that the law ever got passed because it is unconstitutional. That's one of the two things that pissed me off when I moved here... The other was the way that people drive lol. No offense if you're from Illinois, but most people around here don't have a fucking clue how to drive. In the city and western burbs that is, maybe further south it's not this bad, but around here I feel like I have to drive extra defensive to be safe lol.

That was going to be my first and foremost objective while looking. It's just nice to have options and opinions on a reliable firearm would be and why people like the guns they have. If I'm not comfortable holding it, I definitely won't be buying it, going to the range in the next few weeks to start testing some out.

That depends on your opinion.
I happen to like both the glocks and fns, but I like the glock better.

I don't recall glock making U.S. military weapons for the last 60+ years. Lol

Yep def have to watch your ass in Illinois with your firearms. Commie bastards would love to throw every gun owner in the clink if they get the chance. If you do actually care about your rights in Illinois I recommend joining the Illinois State Rifle Association and Illinoiscarry.com. They really fought and are the ones responsible for pushing these antigun laws out and for pushing pro- 2 amendment legislation.
As for the Illinois drivers, if you're in Chicago that's def true lol. Hate going and driving there. The more rural areas of the state are what make it worth living here in every way from driving to political attitudes to common sense lmao

It's ridiculous how some states don't give a shit about your safety. They think if you're unsafe just move into their ivory tower gated and guarded places all the politicians live
Look at the strick gun laws, then violence by guns in those places. The numbers speak for themselves. Obama ordered a study recently about gun crap and it proved having a gun is a good thing and helps protect people. Opps...didn't help his cause. Lol

I'm assuming the xds 9 has the same issue my xds 45 does which is this: with a round in the chamber if, when holster or if for some reason something pushes up against it, and the slide get pushed back just a little the spring is not strong enough to push the slide forward again and the gun will obviously not fire. Springfield refuses to acknowledge/fix this problem and if you do some research you'll find they all do this. I loved my xds except for that problem. Then of course there is an ongoing recall that Springfield is fixing now that affects pretty much ALL xds' so if you do buy one make sure on the grip safety you can see a little roll pin. That is what Springfield is advising shows the pistol is post recall or has been upgraded. Sent my xds out September 7 and the email from Springfield is saying to expect it between Thanksgiving and Christmas. As you can imagine they have a shit load of guns to fix and it is taking forever! Lol my 1911 is so heavy in comparison. Can't wait to get my xds back.
Besides for these problems I really do like my xds. Super easy to carry and conceal and I like having a 45. I'm sure the 9 is good too though.
