I wish good luck for your buddy, but why hasn't he tried to become a citizen thus far in his life? It sounds like he has is shit together, but this was the most important thing to overlook.

The problem is that if they make an exception for him than they would have to make an exception for everyone. I do feel bad because he sounds like a good guy but he made a gamble by not worrying about becoming a citizen untill now and he lost. I'm not sure why you think he will be killed instantly if he gets deported though, where did you hear that?

I just read another article that said his family is in hiding but have hired an attorney for their son(WTF). This situation is all kinds of shady. I still don't understand how his family made it this long with out ever being noticed? His parents don't speak English and neither have high school diplomas? Why doesn't one of them step up and help their son? Are they just gonna stay in hiding forever? Even if he is allowed to stay they will just go after his family next. I understand he did not come here by choice but his family did so they are actually the guilty ones here and they are letting their son take the fall for it. Like it has been said before, there are holes in this story for sure.

If his family was really fearing for their life in the country they could have just filed for immigration as a refugee or requested political asylum. If it was just a few people they were scared of then they should have moved to another part of Guatemala. It's not like anyone would remember this guy since he left when he was 3. Plus, with an American education he shouldn't have that hard of a time finding a job down there.

yes we the U.S. OF A. have rules to become a citizen and that shouild have been his priority when he was old enough to understand. But you know politics plays a big role in obtaining citizenship too. Odds are he knew he would be departed right away. Who knows that is my GUESS and only a guess so no need to write back and tell me I GUESSED.

but as for as my statement that a lot of people here seem to be affraid yeah I think that. I think alot do not travel also. But maybe when they grow up
they will have more of an open mind and travel meet new and exciting people
