2012 Mustang Boss gets a "Tuner" type key
Just read this on Autoblog. The 2012 Mustang boss is getting two sets of keys. One for DD driving and one called a TracKey. The TracKey basically works like so:
From my understanding, once put in the ignition, it "tunes" the engine for track racing or performance. Kinda badass if you ask me.

That is pretty cool. Has that ever been done before or is Ford the first?

There is another car maker that has something like it. It wasnt Chevy or Dodge. I dont recall who it was.

Re: 2012 Mustang Boss gets a "Tuner" type key
So you have to change keys if you want to race a car you see?
Lucky me I have my l can adjust my maps through my tactrix cable on the fly.

Since street racing is illegal. You would have the time to go to a track switch keys and proceed with the race.

Re: 2012 Mustang Boss gets a "Tuner" type key
I'm going to go against the majortiy and say it's a cool idea however it's horribly implemented. I know some cars have sports mode that can be activated and deactivated from within the car, and that's what Ford should have done IMHO. This method just seems like too much of a hassle.

agreed. btw you're only in the minority here because here everyone worships mustangs unconditionally. But outside of here, there will be a ton of people who agree this isn't the most practical implementation of a tuned mode

Well it's a cool idea and compared to the previous mustangs which had nothing like this it's totally awesome. However, when you compare it to what's already on the market it's just meh.

Re: 2012 Mustang Boss gets a "Tuner" type key
This has been very common in things like jet skis, snowmobiles, etc. It's so you can give your kids keys to the [car/toy] without the ability for it to go 100mph.

Well that's a practical idea however in this instance they could've accomplished the same kind of thing by having a key that allows you to enable/disable track mode, and the other key that keeps track mode disabled.
