i didn't know about that EGT gauge, thanks for the tip! how does it burn the truck up though? i didn't think running extra fuel through something would burn the motor up.

well i already know that black smoke is wasted money, i've grown up around diesels my whole life(grew up on a farm). you should see some of the tractors back home when we start pulling a hill hahaha

By running to much fuel through it burns hot, you need to match air to the fuel so that it doesn't blow the black smoke.. Get on Bing or Google and type in burned diesel piston or something like that I'm sure you'll see all kinds of pistons with cool burn marks in them where the injectors sprayed onto the piston and burned holes into them. Diesels don't have to run at a perfect mix like a gas engine but they do need enough air to fuel to have completely burned all the fuel in them. People always just turn up the pumps in them. Do a K&N or similar intake system and a exhaust on the truck and you can turn up the pump a lot more. People always talk about putting marine injectors and that kind of stuff. That's when you really need a bigger turbo to.

I did a bit of research before I bought my Ranger. Colorados' and the Canyons are pretty shitty when it comes to quality/reliability. I wouldn't recommend those.

There was recently an article I read about Ford, their quality has drastically improved. Ford took steps three years ago to improve their quality and the article, not by Ford, said it was really paying off and tha Ford is almost on par with Honda and Toyota. Perhaps they surpassed Toyota with their recent recall of 4 million vehicles with unsafe gas pedals.

I will say I know my Ranger will be reliable, but the fit and finish is kind of shitty.

When I bought my 98 new in highschool I noticed the rear bumper looked like one side was pushed. I measured and the left rear near the body was a 1/2" closer to the body then the right side. I thought I would check my 2010, sure enough, same thing.

Carpet on my 2010 bulges out a bit near the brake pedal, like it's not glued down all the way.

I just noticed that my tailgate is off. The driver side sits flush with the bed rail, on the passenger side the tailgate sits about 1/4" below the rail.

For the other interior part, the plastic consol where the power controls are looks as though it was shittily busted out of the form and you can still see the residual plastic across its length.

But, still you get a lot of truck for something marked up to $29,000+ and when you factor in rebates and bartering you walk out the door saving several thousand plus. So it's not big deal, just some minor observations.

Perhaps I should be writing this to Ford.

I too did research when I bought my Ranger. I was going to pick up a Colorado but, obviously, chose not to... remember... this is an answer for IF THERE WAS NO RANGER

It's called WARRANTY... use it man... I had them replace the carpet in my truck as well as the air bag sensor in the pass. seat. If there's something wrong they'll fix it for free... don't waste your time bitching and writing letters... just take it back.

ive gotten a bunch of stuff done under warranty. the problem is alot of the time they dont give a crap about it if your not paying. examples: my driver side window shakes when it goes down . its been doing that since i bought it. every single time i take it in for an oil change i ask them to fix it. all they do is add some lube and it only fixes it for about 3 hours. next time i going in im going to make them fix it. also i use to go to another dealer but will never go back. i had an issue with my brakes and they needed to be replaced. those idiots put them on wrong and 2 days later i had to get my truck towed back (on my birthday). oh and it took them a week to replace my breaks the first time. yeah warranties great but they dont always care if your not paying.

oh, makes sense. i just didn't think that was as big of a problem because i know the gas motors have to be pretty tight cause they do burn holes. well at least it ain't very hard to increase air flow.

I've been playing Forza 3 a lot, and I have decided that I absolutely must have one of these:

Ferrari FXX

My entire job is warranty work. I understand people not caring 'cause you're not paying. But you take it to the place you bought it from (the same one you PAID already) and that gives you more pull. Also if you bring it back 3 hours later when it rattles again, then 3 hours later again, and you get my picture. PITA but it's what you have to do to get it fixed.

I have been a Ford guy through and through. Iv owned 1 chevorlet. POS. I owned 2 rangers and a explorer. Great vehicles. So to answer your question, if Ford didnt make rangers what would i drive? I would defiantly be either a F150 king ranch or a 03 mustang.

It would really be nice to have a 700hp super snake or a 4-door short bed f350 4x4 with a diesel and 6-speed and a 14" lift and 44s. Reality I would probably still have my old 95 5.0 f150.

I would probably get a 5.0 Foxbody Mustang. Well thats the future plan since my ranger is currently sitting.
