Awesome in the mud fitted with tall narrow 7.50R16 tires as standard. The bumper is strong enough to jack off and the standard factory issue jack is a high lift. The long 130 inch wheelbase is the only hinderence off road. The older ones in my price range were fitted with BMW 5 cylinder diesels which were unreliable but the latest ford engined ones have a great reputation.

but once i get done with college, i'll be buying a 4-door dodge cummins(5.9), 6 speed, and older than 04 i think... before they started putting all the exhaust crap on em!

half way through the 1998 model year is when they started dogging them down with the computers and exhaust crap. if your lucky to get a pre computer Cummings they can be turned up for an unreal amount of power
07 and up of all diesels are required to have all the exhaust crap (EGR, DPF filters, etc.) Obviously anything somewhat new will have some restrictions on it, but almost all are easily removable.

The Cummins did become electronic controlled halfway through 98 with the 24 valve, but that does not mean you can't make any power out of them. You just have to use a different means to get the power unleashed. I am pretty sure that pre 98 12 valves had the same amount of exhaust restriction that the newer 24 valves did.

Lol ditto, unless the hot model girl comes with it!

And dodge diesels before 98 1/2 have the same exhaust as the 24 valves. You can build either to the same power because they are essentially the same. Change the front case of a 24 valve to a 12v case and you can run the P pump that is the easier to tune and run a 24v head on your twelve valve works to but that takes a lot more work that I can't think of at the moment. The 24v pump is electronic and takes a computer tuner of some kind to really effectively tweak with.

oh i know about that change, but i mean in 04 or 05 they did something else to the exhaust where it had to re-circulate or something like that to help with emission because apparently it was putting too much black smoke out hahaha

but if i can get a 12valve i'll be all over it! cause then all i need to crank the power up is a screwdriver and thats like $1 but i'd still be happy with a 24valve just as long as its pre- 04(i think) or right around that era.

They added an EGR in 05 and it wasn't for black smoke it was to meet the retarded epa regulations. And you can turn of the power in a 12v with a screw driver, but word of warning...I've watch 3 guys at school do this, install a EGT gauge if you do so you don't burn the truck up by running to much fuel. Black smoke sucks, just wasted money!

I really wish more people would know this. You don't need to blow black smoke to have power, you could actually make more power by getting rid of the smoke. And not to mention, it gives the tree hugging liberals something to complain about.

I love the 350Z. Only thing I'm not completely in love with is the tail lights, but I still want a Z in my collection when I'm rich and famous.

There's only one alternative for me. A Jeep Wrangler Rubicon. I had an 05 I built up. It was awesome, but it's an expensive hobby.
