Default R/C racing anyone?

Hey guys, I'm getting into R/C racing and wanted to know who else was into the hobby?

I'm buying big to save later on. My first car is going to be a Traxxas Slayer Pro. Greg Adler edition.

Could use some help getting the info and tips without the flaming from R/C sites.

I used to be into RC hardcore...Just make sure you have money to replace parts everytime you use it most likely. Its a very expensive hobby.

Also try RCNitroTalk.com.. IMO its the best RC forum out their. All the members are awesome.

i just traded my motorolla droid (i got an upgrade so i didnt need it) for a traxxus rustler rxl, its my first real RC car, and jesus christ! although i dont know if its something i want to keep on doing mostly because of the cost and its fun for a minute then i get bored. i would rather be driving a real one or building a real one than be standing watching it. but they are pretty sick!

I was using a rustler outfield during the races at the local track. Nice power and handling. could use some more travel.

I actually am deciding on either a 2wd or 4wd slash. I figure if I get the nitro 3.3, I have really no options for upgrades on performance, where with an electric I can do brushless, li-po batteries, different gears, etc.

Anyone running R/C at all, even if its not racing?

Slayer is nitro. Slash is electric. I've ran the Slash 2wd, but I'm not sure whether to get 4wd or 2wd. Originally, I was getting a slayer. little aftermarket parts available + high cost = no go.

Slash 2wd is most likely gonna be my truck but then again the 4wd comes with the brushless setup (faster out of the box)

Any help?

I have a slash 2wd running 3s lipos with the mamba max pro 4600kv and although it's fast and can jump just about anything I still wish I had a slash 4x4 just for the fact they handle and maneuver so much better in corners, air, and can handle anything you throw at them.

I started messing with R/C cars back in the 80's with Team Associated on-road stuff...now I've got an older HPI on-road gas car that I don't use much anymore, and I've been looking at an HPI Blitz because I don't have enough things to spend money on

So would you say the slash 4x4 is worth the extra money? I'm still shopping around.

Got any more info on your slash 2wd? I'm just getting into it and could use it...

i just got a traxxas rustler 2 days ago. drove really hard yesterday. decided to go and throw a little bit of money at it and bought a 2700 MaH battery, 16 tooth gear, and a 22 tooth gear. i was talking to the guy at the hobby shop and he said the 22 was bigger but when we pulled it apart they were the same size, so i was kinda bummed out on that. its a torquey s.o.b. lol. i was pulling wheelies in it pretty hard by jamming it from reverse to drive and i think i might of ground down a couple teeth in the tranny from doing that. lol. but thats just another excuse for me to step up to the brushless system i was juimping the piss out of mine and it handled everything i threw at it. was pretty impressed. i think im just gonna go blow all my money on the motor and tranny and gearing and just keep stock suspension. lol.
